Keepnets question for a noobie
Hello all,

I just had an honest question, i've started playing the game a few days ago, really enjoying it, but i think i've run into something i know nothing about. So i'm going to use this as an example, at lvl 18, you unlock the Florida fishing location, and say i want to go for Red Drum or Tarpon, or even Channel Cat's for that matter, fish that can weigh 30+ pounds without a problem, how do i keep them at that level? The keep nets at this level only allow for a max of an 11lb fish with up to what, 66lb's of total fish weight?

I saw a level 16 with a "100kg" keepnet yesterday catching 20lb catfish in North Carolina, but i have absolutely no idea how he got it or how that all works. Can someone throw me some guidance? it'd be much appreciated.

Best,

Doc

The 440 lb. keepnet unlocks at Lev 40.
You dont have to buy anything
DLC are just skined and just a boost for low level players if they cant wait

you need to know, there 2 type of fish bag,
1. keepnet
2. stringer

keepnet is fish friendly but for low lvl (under lvl 30) it only have small med single fish size.
if you want something big use stringer, but you cant release the fish once you keep the fish, and it allow you to hold med big fish for low lvl.

yep like Noneya said, you didnt really have to buy anything. you can get all the gear by in-game currency,
if you want to skip some part then go random fishing, yes DLC is your choice.

I'd definitely go with a stringer, if I were you. Unless you want to do competitons(some of which require a keepnet,) the stringers are usually stronger for the money.

If you're desperate to have the huge net right now, you can buy a dlc pack, but you're prolly better off if you don't. The big keepnet will cost you more money to maintain than one more appropriate to your level. If you wanna spend money, I'd recommend buying some coins for some unlimited advanced licenses. They'll save you tons of in-game money.

Otherwise, just try to have the biggest stringer you can and make sure you're filling it as often as possible.

It might take a little time to land a giant, but there's always some good fighting fish along the way.

Just a side note: You can not release fish from stringers

farm buffalo and bass in Texas to build cash until you can afford the gear u need there are plenty of guides on how to catch them for cash do not buy dlcs fish progressively and learn the game by playing it then you accomplish something instead of it being handed to you.

by the way youtube is an excellent source for info just use it for when or where and how and model it to your own methods. bait or lure times leader length weather, etc. only use it for videos less than 10 months old. every thing else is out of date because things change in the game

Thanks for the advice and responses everyone, it's very much appreciated. I think my big issue was how they locked content that you unlock at a certain level, for instance fishing for tarpon in the everglades at lvl 18 is next to impossible if you don't buy a DLC pack or something along those lines specifically because no keepnet or stringer at that level will hold the fish, so it's a waste of time and money to fish an area that you can't keep the fish you catch, especially when it costs 8k to even go there for a day.

I ended up getting a DLC specifically for the net, and it's helped a lot.

Heavy Casting Pack DLC is the best bet. $4.99 with a decent size net. Honestly the best bet for lower levels.

It costs 8k to get there, but it's only 1k a day to stay there. The place is absolutely crawling with bass, and those don't take much to catch. 3-5 of them and you're in the green.

Any tarpon you might catch(they're rare) are basically just for XP and a fun fight. You get money for them, but nowhere near enough to justify how much they weigh. Same with the drum and snook.

Fishing multiple days is a requirement, really, if you're gonna be traveling. The longer you're willing to stay, the less than initial 8k is gonna affect you. I'd say it's worth it, considering the alternative of farming TX until you're rich.

If you decide to go to Florida and have decent gear, look up on youtube how to catch Uni Largemouth Bass at night. I can get 3-5 per night. But like I say, make sure you have decent gear as they are a bear to get in on light gear.
