How do i know when i've got a bite and how does the diagram work where it shows the jig moving ?

Set you your reel speed to 2 or 3, cast your jig, either wait til it sinks to the bottom or start retrieving, count to three, stop for about 1 second, start retrieving again for 3 seconds, repeat. There should be 3 filled in circles with the words Stop&Go under the picture of the jig, if not try adjusting the speed or retrieve till there is. You will know when you get a strike, the rod will start doubling over, press down on the right mouse button to set the hooks. Practice the Stop&Go first then try doing other retrieves. Hope this helps.

I tried this but i just end up reeling back in or the float keeps sinking to the bottom, is it supposed to ?

Ignore the lure he is using. The method applies to all lures (except topwater and crankbaits).
Use either speed 2 or 3 depending on the weight of your lure, ratio of your reel, what feels best for you and also depth of the water you fishing.

Float ? I Don't think you're using a Bass jig. If your float keeps sinking to the bottom it means your bait is too heavy, buy a cheap Chubby float from the shop.
