Help! New player, "tackle taken out before fish was hooked"???
I just began playing, but I'm having a hard time actually getting fish! I always start clicking the right mouse button and then holding the left one after it says "strike" in red in the tackle icon, but I always get this message??

You need to allow line to take off, wait a second or two before winding the reel in. just a bit too eager to catch fish.

I tried to do that, for different time frames. I also tried to wait the fish to start swimming away. Neither worked ;--;

After casting your line out, keep watching the float image in the top right of the screen, when the image of the float darts off to either side and disappears is the time to strike with the Right Mouse Button. Press the function key F1 to see the keyboard layout, press F11 (once before casting) to change the casting style when using a float setup to enable casting further.

When the fish actually takes the float the float graphic vibrates from side to side. Just wait a bit longer before striking.

What do I do when the float just doesn't do either before the time is up? I tried pressing the button when this happens and it didn't work either, but some times it doesn't even do that

Yeah, you have to wait longer. The indicator slowly moving a bit isn't enough. When they actually bite, it goes crazy/sinks almost instantly.
So I have to wait more after the game says "strike" in red? How long? I tried waiting two seconds, three seconds, four seconds, tried reeling when the tension is low, when the tension is high, when the float is in the center, when it's on the side, when it's on the bottom
None of those worked yet

I did wait for that every time, but it still didn't work ;--;

I wonder if it's a bug. I'm trying to verify the integrity of the files

Wait, I think it's working now
I'll have to try a couple times to test

OK, I don't know what changed, but I'm managing now!
Thank you so much for everyone's help!!!!!

You're welcome.

My guess it's a bug. This happened to me yesterday and I also couldn't adjust reeling speed. Exit the game and come back again, the problems have gone.
