Congo Night Flat Spoon Mission
The Nile Perch weight requirement is in the upper weight range of the trophy Nile Perch, so while the RNG for weight is over 100lbs range, the portion of that range you need is in the upper 10%. The other fish have no such ridiculous requirements. If you could catch the uni with the flat spoon that weight requirement would make sense. The Nile Perch requirement needs to be changed or the uni needs to be added to the fish the flat spoon will catch.

I've spent at least 30 nights trying to catch one above the 271.1 (or so) lbs weight, and I've taken 270.9 several times. If this was truly RNG then I'd have the same chance of catching any weight fish in the trophy range, but it's simply false that RNG is to blame.

Took me about 2-3 hours irl to make it. Caught it on 8/0 blue flat spoon at 9pm when peak was absolut top. Pressure was low so i fished low near the bottom using stop and go.
And unis can be caught with the flat spoon.

I've never even seen a uni nile perch taken with the flat spoon. I can get one per night at least with the shad though

A tips if you want to speed up the process and increase the chance: Switch night as soon as you get a trophy (if you arent already). This way you'll have the chance to land the trophies back to back more frequently.

I can give you position for a good spot as well for the perches (if you want), a spot where you dont have to fight them against the invisible wall and lets you reel them in a lot faster.
It took me 2 real life weeks to catch that Perch. BTW, I have caught a Uni Perch on that Blue #8/0 flat spoon but it was after I caught the Trophy for the night hunt mission.

I've finished the mission, no uniques. Never saw a unique on flat spoon on any youtube video either, you'd think KP Shimino would have taken one. Not saying it's impossible, but from the 60+ nights I spent, I never saw one. After I finished the mission, I switched to shad on three way rig and caught two uniques right away (two different spots).

I know all the spots. Thanks for the offer though.

I feel like once you engage the tracking of the mission, suddenly you get these magical releases that stopped right after you finish it, meaning I get a hook up that lasts a second then it's gone, and you see the fish go across the bank or something silly. Not sure it's a trophy but my suspicion is that the mission actively works against you, but that seems like a lot of programming nonsense for nothing if true.

The blue spoon might work for a uni in the daytime though. It's also odd that I couldn't get one until I purchased the blue spoon. The store bought one with cash seemed to come up short. As soon as I bought the spoon, a couple trophies later I finished it.

By the way I only ever saw two spots on the tutorials for these, but I found one near the opposite end of the map near the wire. Not sure it's known, but I marked it. Not as productive though.

All this trying though got me to over 22m in funds lol

btw I swore I'd never use the flat spoon again but used it for the Labrax mission.

I liked the difficulty of the end game mission.
I ALSO SPENT >30 DAYS EXPLORING THE CONGO TO COMPLETE THIS MISSION...
...really felt triumphant when i caught the bass turd.

What's the deal with the trophy fluoro line you get for this mission, it seems very weak for fish in Congo

It took me 6 hours to complete. I think they took all three fish and just removed 10% of max weight and in case of Nile Perch that is very little. You have 80 -> 130kg and just 5kg of maneuvering space for the achievment and you cannot get a unique. It's all RNG until you get it. Mine was 127kg.
I also did: trophy -> next night -> trophy -> next night -> etc...
But what I will tell you, don't burn yourself out on this, I didn't find the spoon anything special. Same as other trophy lures from missions. They are fine and can be used but really not worth of this much time. They should reduce it to atleast 120...

It took me few days to complete, since I didn't buy blue flat spoon, I did it all with silver one. I kept catching smaller trophy perch... The stuff I got in return like trophy spoon was okay, but not the 40lbs (18.1 kg ) line is useless, this could be ok for level 25 mission, not level 75.
