*edit I might have missunderstood you regarding the boat.? Can you use your trolling motor at all?
Personally im using about the same equipment as you I think (rivertex 280 and 26.5kg dragforce). All tho it sure takes time to reel them in, i have no issues with loosing them. Using braided line on my reel so they havent spooled me yet.
If you have the dlc you should prob use your bottom or match rod instead until you go up in lvl and can buy stronger spin/casting equipments, if thats what you prefer to use.
I'm sure he's talking about not being able to chase down the fish when it is on the other side of that invisible wall. I agree that using the DLC rods would make more sense in that area.
Have had very limited success with bottom rod from DLC which offers best option for line and reel as far as test weight.
The float rod from DLC has gotten me nothing so far (may be bad setup on my part but just haven't gotten even a nibble with it.)
Best luck I've had is casting. Have a pair of Diverted ExCast 9'6" rods (31-62lb test)
One with a Rivertex Tornado 7000, second with Diverted Tornado 7500.
Both with Fluoro .03 line which gives 60.5 lb test but limits me to 284 feet of line.
I could switch them to Red Braid .011 which is 57 lb test, but that only increases me to 509 feet of line so not sure how much I'd gain there vs the slight loss of test strength.
Just added a Thetis 7'6" Spinning Rod with a Leviathan 10000 reel and it is using the Braid .011 to match reel. 1131 feet of line gives plenty to work with so not worried about fish running out on me, but landing 400lb Uni with it took around 45 minutes rl time and only happened because fish finally decided to head up river so I could chase it with the trolling motor.
Saying that I still did the perch for 77 - 80 levels, night skipping after a uni was landed. There is at least 4 other spots for uni perch other than the waterfall. Fish heaviest spinning or casting rod you can get. Carolina rig or three way rig to match line. 1oz- 1 1/4oz weight. Biggest offset hook you can get. Pink or blue/green ribbed shad, also 6" night shad works on normal set up with large jighead or the rigs. two speed twitch retrieve near bottom to mid water, keep working lure till its out of water, they will follow a lure up the water.
My issue/complaint was about the distance between the no boat zone and the edge of falls creating an excessively large area for fish to run in where a boat can't track them down.
So you think they should change the out of bounds wall because you are using under powered gear?
I don't begrudge them looking to make a profit off the game. But think reducing the out of bounds area for fish to run in this location would help a lot of people enjoy game more and have little to no impact on their income.
