Congo Falls
Just got the DLC for Congo after taking long break from game.
I'm level 50 so limited on what gear I have available.

Fishing is good for most part but think they need to move the boat limit closer to actual edge of falls as currently there is so much room between the boat limit and edge that it can be difficult if not impossible to pull in the larger fish with 50-60lb test gear.
The fish simply have too much room to run and you can't use your trolling motor to chase them down when they do. Combine that with very limited amount of line on cast reels and your looking at a frustrating experience.

Spend half hour real life time trying to get a big fish that refuses to turn and come to boat only to have it either run out your line and snap the leader or get disconnected from server.

I have landed Uni Perch there so know it's possible with my gear but spending so much real live time only to lose fish because of all that extra space they have that boat can't go into is activating. Reason to have boat and trolling motor is to help chase down those big fish that are difficult or impossible to land from shore, but with this excessive amount of room for them to run in I might as well be on shore instead of in boat.

you can also buy another boat in the shop that doesnt have the rod holders, then you can use the trolling motor while you have a fish hooked.

*edit I might have missunderstood you regarding the boat.? Can you use your trolling motor at all?
Personally im using about the same equipment as you I think (rivertex 280 and 26.5kg dragforce). All tho it sure takes time to reel them in, i have no issues with loosing them. Using braided line on my reel so they havent spooled me yet.

If you have the dlc you should prob use your bottom or match rod instead until you go up in lvl and can buy stronger spin/casting equipments, if thats what you prefer to use.

I'm sure he's talking about not being able to chase down the fish when it is on the other side of that invisible wall. I agree that using the DLC rods would make more sense in that area.

I can troll just fine as long as I don't have a rod in holder. Problem is that from marker boey to edge of falls where Perch are is roughly 400 feet straight ahead so they have a lot of room to run in that you can't use trolling motor to chase them with.

Have had very limited success with bottom rod from DLC which offers best option for line and reel as far as test weight.
The float rod from DLC has gotten me nothing so far (may be bad setup on my part but just haven't gotten even a nibble with it.)

Best luck I've had is casting. Have a pair of Diverted ExCast 9'6" rods (31-62lb test)
One with a Rivertex Tornado 7000, second with Diverted Tornado 7500.
Both with Fluoro .03 line which gives 60.5 lb test but limits me to 284 feet of line.
I could switch them to Red Braid .011 which is 57 lb test, but that only increases me to 509 feet of line so not sure how much I'd gain there vs the slight loss of test strength.

Just added a Thetis 7'6" Spinning Rod with a Leviathan 10000 reel and it is using the Braid .011 to match reel. 1131 feet of line gives plenty to work with so not worried about fish running out on me, but landing 400lb Uni with it took around 45 minutes rl time and only happened because fish finally decided to head up river so I could chase it with the trolling motor.

Fish different spot for uni perch then you can chasing them anytime you want with your boat. There isn't just 1 spot for uni perch at the waterfall.

DLC is no longer advantageous, with the recovery they made the fish smaller, farm XP is no longer interesting!

Hi I have a friend who told me to go for the Goliath Tiger, These fish will give you more money and XP over the Nile perch. I am averaging XP 115k to 120 depending how many trophies or unis I get. Money I am getting 290k to 334k per bag. Granted I am a lvl 74 and I have more space. However you will find you will level faster and be able to get better equipment. I also suggest you do your 30 challenge, when you hit 9pm to 5 am you do not have the cool down extend to next day, hit T and extend again. If you keep doing that you will complete your 30 days in a week or so depending on how long you play. Congo will be my 13th 30 day waterway completed. I suggest 5 bottom rods, as many reels as you can carry, and 2 casting rods, and 3 casting reels. I use 2 bottoms I hold 1 and put 1 in rod holder. I currently have 16 fish in bag mostly Goliath a few cats, in total 16 fish I still have 691 pounds till bag is full and I have 164K in money and close to hitting lvl 75. I lvl in 3 1/2 bags of fish. most times. Go to youtube and look for videos on Goliath Tigerfish to see where to catch them or add me to fishing planet and I can share my markers with you GHOST_XDC Good luck and have fun.

Goliaths seem better during the two days with the long peek. Fishing at night you get pestered with catfish. One starts at 9am, the other 5pm. The 3rd day type of two short peeks was indifferent, but ok. Fish at least 3 spots with 4 or 5 bye float gear set to 13" depth with a titanium leader. Large Minnows, the two Aracu Minnows and shinners work really well. Fish a 10/0 Barbless hook. Best day was 243k xp in a rl hour of actual fishing. Worst was just over 130k hour.
Saying that I still did the perch for 77 - 80 levels, night skipping after a uni was landed. There is at least 4 other spots for uni perch other than the waterfall. Fish heaviest spinning or casting rod you can get. Carolina rig or three way rig to match line. 1oz- 1 1/4oz weight. Biggest offset hook you can get. Pink or blue/green ribbed shad, also 6" night shad works on normal set up with large jighead or the rigs. two speed twitch retrieve near bottom to mid water, keep working lure till its out of water, they will follow a lure up the water.

I have no issues catching plenty of fish.
My issue/complaint was about the distance between the no boat zone and the edge of falls creating an excessively large area for fish to run in where a boat can't track them down.

So you think they should change the out of bounds wall because you are using under powered gear?

I'm using gear that is available for my level without spending more real money than I already have on game.

I don't begrudge them looking to make a profit off the game. But think reducing the out of bounds area for fish to run in this location would help a lot of people enjoy game more and have little to no impact on their income.

Alltho you are using equipment for your level, it doesnt transfer to being equipment that fits the waterway. Im using almost the same equipment as you to gain more xp and to have nice fights, but its on the cost of spending extra time to reel them in.
