Beginner Struggles - How To Catch a Smallmouth Buffalo?

So, for techinaclly two days now, I have been trying to complete Lone Star Exploration II, i have caught all the other required fish, except 1. The Smallmouth Buffalo, I swear I have spent so much of my in-game currency buying stuff for this fish and I cant catch it. I dont know what to do, I've watched youtuber's and done what they did, and still no luck.

The rod I am using is called Creek Pro 270 with a MiniSpin 1200 reel. I use MayFly bait, Hook #8, Mono Leader 0.09, 15 g Sinker and Mono 18 mm Line. Im able to cast about 60-65 ft and i put it on a rod stand, not sure if that makes a difference or not though.

With this set up, I can catch just about anything on Lone Star, except for the Buffalo. Im level 7 now when I originally got the mission at level 4 or 5. Any tips & tricks or any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

id use Corn and instead of mayflies then jsut Preay to the RNG Gods

Look for the deep areas on the map. You can access them from the road at the far end.

Try bread or dough types of bait as the Buff is from the Carp family. GL.

Thanks for the tips everyone! Ill switch to Bread with Honey since i have that unlocked.

I had success with bread w/ honey using a float set to the max depth and throwing it out into the middle of the dark blue area on the map(press M). The float will lay sideways but you will still get bites.

There is a small hole in front of the house that is fairly easy to reach (or just try casting into the middle of the Lake pond)

Finally caught the buffalo! But now, im stuck again trying to catch the Silver Bream...still using the same set up, just now im using a Braid line and Dough Balls as bait since the bread didn't work. Anymore tips would be great!

Try using baits from the insect and worms selection (like blood worms, maggots, pinkies etc).

Fish light with redworm or caster and groundbait in a small feeder, size 12/14 hook..

In Akhtuba river I use a small bottom rod with 8/6 hook and pinkies, several silver/blue bream uni come out. Use pinkies or maggots and fish towards the bottom.

Braid line for this type of fishing is a wrong choice, use mono or fluoro line.
