Lost in the amazon, no fish. Confused!!
Bought the Amazonian Carnival Pack, went to the amazon and it makes no sense to me. I'm watching youtube videos of people fishing in places that I cannot find in the amazon as I ride around on the boat looking for them, looks like the boat can only access one tiny strip around the Rio grand hotel.

This is beyond confusing, I'm throwing shiners and also plastic baits that came with the carnival pack and no fish.

You can take the boat into most of the tiny canals that connect to other parts of the map.

Found my way out. Found a bunch of anglers at a spot catching bull shark, fast forward to night, caught one 70 lb bull shark then nothing after that, even took boat and went all over the spot looking at fishing sonar, it showed no fish in the spot.

Close to losing all my money, spending multiple days in amazon and caught only 1 bull shark now and nothing besides that.

Total waste of money. $30 down the toilet. And no video on youtube will show you where to go, video starts and they are somewhere on the map somewhere catching fish. Where who knows?

Beyond frustrated
You give absolutely no information for people to help you. What is your current level and what is your heaviest bottom and float setups? You are targeting the wrong fish and watching the wrong videos. Shark fishing is hit or miss and lots of time between bites usually. YouTube KPShamino and watch his Arapaima videos(the Amazon ones). With the pond pass and premium from that DLC there is no reason you should be losing money there.

Level 50. bottom rods hold 53 lb braid, floats too lite for fishing their.

Would rather catch sharks for xp and money.

I think the problem lies with you and not the map. Either that or you've been very unlucky. Re-watch the youtube videos and see where thy are catching and what baits and methods they are using, copy them and you should be okay if conditions are about the same. Are you concentrating on the right times?
Forget the shark for now and catch some of the medium sized fish to make money first, then go for the bigger ones when you've banked enough.

You are going to waste your 30 day pond pass and premium fishing for sharks. Arapaima and Trahira will get you xp and money faster than sharks. Sorry you don't want to listen to people who have been fishing there since release. Good luck to you.

1. The net I have is in the 900 lb. range so it cannot hold high XP Uniques.
2. The young Arapaima I was catching gave less XP than the young sharks. Arapaima were giving me 800 XP. 3. The young sharks were giving me up to 3,000 XP. 4. I got more money from the young sharks than the young Arapaima.

So I don't know how catching a fish that gives me less XP and less cash is not listening to someone. KP Shamino's videos show the same, young Arapaima giving him less than young sharks. Though I keep following these youtube videos and going to these spots, [which takes forever to get to in that maze of a blue map] but I finally get there and fish at the time recommended on the video, and the exact weather pattern, and if I'm lucky I might catch one fish there [the fish that the video shows the youber catching over and over and over again] I might catch one if I'm lucky, a small one, and that's it.

I'm not finding Brazil to be anything like California or Michigan where you just catch the fish over and over and over again and load up the net.

Thanks for the help to the two replies. But I just can't do anything with Brazil.

So, you're level 50.
You spent real money, on a DLC, to fish a level 68 map, that included a time limited pond pass and a time limited licence, and now you are not happy with the out come.

The game is free to play, and you could have just leveled up at no cost !

I'm getting used to it now and starting to catch some fish. That place psyched me out, because 1. It's massive . 2. At level 50 I can't get the biggest gear so I can't tangle with the trophies or Euniques [not sure if I spelled that right] unless it's something small like a Piranha. 3. I only have 30 days.

Honestly I should have waited a few days before asking for help on the fishing planet/ steam forum. But within a few hours of playing I was beyond psyched out, so I started playing Jul 7 and July 9th I'm settling in a little. Too bad they don't have the access to Brazil somewhere in the 50 range, like a Level 58. I can't remember off the top of my head what level you have to reach is it 68? Either way, hitting in the high level 60s will take a long time to reach for me.

Anyway apologies.

Just an idea, you could fish for trahira, the heavy casting rod from pack is capable of tackling the uniques. They will also fit into the keep net from the dlc. I prefer the red duo 4/0 for catching them generally on a one speed return. The 8/0 red should pull the larger ones. A unique can give just under 20000 xp.

the sharks are fun for a while, but from the shore, they destroy your equipment, and fishing from a boat without anchor has issues with the current.... so stuck with Arapima at my little secluded spot with no current to worry about.

I was at Orchid Shore in Amazon, and I could hear a monkey in the jungle that kept on making loud noise, and then I walked down the shore throwing lure bait [major popper] and then one of my pole alarms went off, and I start hearing loud monkey noise [and the monkey was on on my rod stand then jumped down yelling and took back off into the jungle] that happened at 1am game time.

So apparently the devs have it setup where a monkey can come out of the jungle, climb up on your rod stand and sit, make noise, and then jump down and run back into the jungle.

According to the following, the monkey can steal your gear

Quote: But take care and dont leave your rods unattended: local monkeys are very curious and are always ready to steal a fun item just when youre not looking.

I've seen monkey by the old temple. He was messing with my rod stand then started screaming and ran off when I walked toward him
