mission to catch carp, do i need carp rods/reels and special carp tackle or will any float/bottom tackle do, and what would you recomend for tackle and bait, thankyou

For most carp I use bottom rods with peas or corn, #4/0 hooks of larger. For Big Head and Silver I use vegetables or technoplankton on a match rod, shallow leader.

You can catch carp without boilies and carp gear but that will bring you the biggest ones. You should be able to use a method feeder now too. Otherwise peas, corn and bread and honey will catch you carp especially small ones. Bottom or float rod.
