What I will mention is the much less talked about Catfish and Sturgeon Hotspot.
You will need to either have a boat or rent one there.
You go to the Boat Dock. Just across from you will be a small floating dock.
That is your target.
Set up your rod stand, facing directly towards shore, back the way you came.
You want to fish only maybe 20-30 ft. in front of the dock.
You will be fishing on the bottom, at night.
Gear: You want bottom rods, the heavier the better. If you can't get those, you can try the heaviest Feeder Rods you can find. These are big fish, so you want big gear. No matter what you have on there, be prepared for a fight.
You want your line and leader to match as closely as possible your rod and real strength, as usual. You want 4/0-8/0 hooks. If you are lower level and don't have access to heavy bottom gear, use the 4/0. Barbless hooks if you can get them for the nice exp. bonus they give you.
Bait: Different people swear by different things here. Me? Duck Muscle Meat all the way. It's cheap and catches both Blue Cats and Sturgeon very well. Some folks go with Shiners, others Large Minnows. Crawfish have their fans, and a few even stand by Frogs.
Feeders: I would not recomend that you use Feeders until you are familiar with the spot and know where the fish are. Otherwise you loose a lot of time and cash for no good reason. Use weights until you have several Marks. Even then, it's questionable if it really helps that much. I usually don't bother unless I'm specifially targeting the very largest fish (at the expence of effecient fishing) or really, really need to haul in a LOT of fish as fast as possible ( I'm about to level up and gain access to whole new gear and ponds). If you do want to use Feeders, then look for ones that mention Deep, Cold Water, Large White Fish, Slow Current.
There is one last thing about this spot: If you keep a spinning rod handy, there are many types of fish that will hit Spoons, Spinners, and Hard Baits. Different types of Trout, Walleye, even the ocational odd lost Salmon can show up.
Hope this helps.
