If the dev's have made any mistakes it's not making the above more obvious to new players.
I do hope that in the near future we can save complete rod setups, which can be removed together from the backpack to the inventory, and can be labelled like 'Unique Carp ' or 'Unique Chinook Salmon '.

Youtube is your friend with this game.
So true, but unfortunately, common sense isn't common. lol
as for common sense i sopose if your a fisher(person) irl then it is common sense but if your not then it may be a little complecated but in the shop theres icons that show what reel goes with what rod and weather its a float or lure rod.
lure= casting and spinning rods
float/hook/bait= match and telescopic rods
Listen in real life many people just own a rod or two. If someone on the shoreline told me it was impossible to rig my med/light spinning outfit to float fish for crappie they would get a laugh from and something like "Pfffft get away from me".
It's not common sense it's just arbitrary rules that are imposed by Fishing Planet. They don't really make sense but they are a game mechanic that needs to be learned.
ifyou put a 2oz lead on a light match rod your more than likely to snap your rod trying to cast it. :D
i think the game is also trying to teach people things like this aswell hence why you have restrictions between float &lure rods and why you get a warning if you use to heavy a lure :D
so i dont think this mechanic is a bad idea at all :D
Yes Darren but that's covered by the weight limits of the rod. In the States I haven't really bought any new main tackle (rods and reels) in 25 years so I have no idea if they are now telling people they need to specialize to seperate people from there money.
I used to work at a tackle/bait shop and would never mislead someone into the belief that they couldn't use spinning gear for float fishing.
But really, the game gives the player all the information they need to be successful if they are smart enough to see it and patience enough to use it.
Sorry didnt' mean to offend you!
And you are right the dev's could do a better job starting out new players...
With that said there are some excellent guides right here on this board that give a new player all the info they need.
LOL But the internet killed the manual and gave birth to Wikis that can be informative and full of disinformation since they rely on fans to create them.
