How to make money with such high travel costs, kind of ridiculous .. not a complete noob ! help please !!
Ok so i play on ps4, im level 14/15 now, and i mainly make my money by catching lots of bass at texas, so after saving lots of money after 3-4hours and going to a few different places .. fishing the right lures/setup etc its a bust and im back to like 80 bucks from 15 grand .. dont get me wrong im catching the fish but the travel & license cost just outweighs the profit too much, sure i like the game but im not paying through my teeth like the devs want for a fishing sim and im willing to put in time to get there but seriously come on, when it comes to free to play i think theres a fine fluorocarbon line where you can charge for things and the players will happily pay to support the devs and a line where you cant get anywhere unless you pay .. theyve crossed it ! i think this is just pure greedy on the devs part, all my friends play too at anytime theres 6 of us fishing smashing bass at lone star, but i feel we will all drop the game if they dont either charge a fixed cost for the game or seriously reconsider the system im just about ready to drop it myself, after fishing emerald lake, rocky for trout, mudwater for largemouth etc all coming up short and in no way outweighing the travel costs etc even with anvanced license to keep the fish .. i just dont get it seriously wheres the fun at ? its a fishing game its meant to be relaxing just chill fish and talk with friends .. but we are finding ourselves getting annoyed we cant progress after many hours of gameplay, ive read the bass at colorado the green ones "cant remember name" pay good money, but even then the cost to travel there is like 8000 plus a license wtf devs are you kidding me right now ? also the premium $160 for a year again you kidding me ? and a total of 4000 plus baitcoins to unlock unlimited passes in all maps if its free to play why cant that be earned and worked towards with cash in game not gold .. thats over $400 is it just me or are you devs literally taking the piss ? .. wheres the game longevity if people have to go 'oh.. no money again, back to lone star for 4hrs yay" stuff that atleast make 2 homes lone star and one at level 18/20 or something so theres variety in fishing, anyway how are you guys making decent money ?, whats the best map to make good money ? .. and whats the best way to stay out of lone star without going broke .. can it actually be done or what ?

You're moving around way too much. Stay in Texas until you have enought money to buy a rod and reel good enought for NY (don't remember if it's 6 or 8 lb) and fish walleye and pike until you have enought money to get a 10lb rod and reel at which time you head for florida when it unlocks. Keep your net/stringer up to date as soon as a new one unlocks. It's a bit of a grind but you can work your way to lvl 40 in a bit over 200 hours without buying premium or a DLC. The trick is to not move around until you need to.

You've got to learn to catch the fish, basically just start over, but not from scatch.

Go to lone star and focus on learning spotted bass. Make a ton of money, Then come bak and edit your post...lol

at first, your net/striger is the problem, you need to upgrade that to make the fishing more profitable per day.

Don't spend alot of money, until you have plenty.

DLC is in no way required to enjoy or succeed in this game, it's basically a way to donate to the Devs on what really is a very good gishing game(not without it's problems)

sure DLC can make thing a little easier to new person, But you'll actually learn the game better without it. And for a new person, most won't know how to take full advantage of what they purchased.

anyway, good luck
yeah ok fair enough, well i have a 9 pound lure setup & a 9 pound baitfishing setup with lots of jigs bait etc, and my stringer is like 33/36 pound, i always up stringer before going anywhere as theres no point going if i cant hold enough fish/profit, thanks for the tips ill head to NY and fish walleye and pike then, best bait/lures ? .. so basically i go there bagout 7 or more times and then move on if i feel that way i make profit .. fair enough, thanks dude.
Lol mate i know how to fish bass quite well from doing it so much in real life it is a sim after all .. in fact my biggest spotted bass in game is 2.075 - 100 grams of top 100 leaderboard, in game i pull in bass at a 1:3-1:4/5 cast ratio and i bag out a 33/36pound stringer in 35-45 min or so, i make money fairly quick on lone star but i want to get onto the other maps and fish the bigger stuff like largemouth and peacock bass, i was just annoyed that i cant turn a profit at different locations so felt stuck at lone star, but i can clearly see now that this isnt the case and as long as you follow this youll be fine

A, your fish auto sell when you progress to next day - didnt know.
B, stay there until you have turned a decent profit
C, move to next area when you have bigger stringer/keep and rods setup plus enough funds
D, make sure you have all lures/baits for the trip as if you have to leave prematurely you lose out
travel costs

next stop NY for walleye and pike .. stay there till level 18/ 10 days plus buildup money equipment etc then hit up north carolina for uni largemouth & uni peacock.

Best lures for walleye/pike ?
Best baits for walleye/pike ?

cheers for the help guys much obliged.

Glad you found some help here.
Now you may want to know that there is a new official FP forum, for all plateforms right here
https://forum.fishingplanet.com/
There you may also find better answers for PS4 more specific questions

Then for your 2 questions
You know that on the page of the lake, you have a tab where you can find teh fishes present at that very lake... and then from there read all the preferred lures and/or baits for each fish.

Also, YouTube is your best friend, although vids may be either outdated due to the many changes done during EA we had on PC and/or not PS4 specific, I believe the lures/baits and spots are quite the same and still quite up to date.
I would say, check Lady of games, KpShamino, squatchcraft, or HawkeyeM for english vids.

Few hints though.
NY Lures : narrow spoons, shads, casting spoons are your friends for NY.
Then for baits, I'll let other answer, because I have been mostly a lure fishing guy, but small minnows / shiners are a bet, and check leeches (not sure though) read that under the fish description I told you about if they are indeed working for walleye. But issue with baits there, is you may catch what you don't want to catch as well and your baits costs will greatly cut your incomes whenever you have a lost bait and/or a yelow perch going after it.

I for one, always went to NY mainly with lures, but other do it differently, so either wait for an other answer or ask on official forum for maybe a quicker answer.

Tight lines

Question: What is the secret for Creating a New Account, signing in, and acceptance for the Forum (http://forum.fishingplanet.com/) ? I clicked on Create New Account, filled out all the required information, clicked on " I am not a Robot " , and inserted the correct code that was displayed for required verification, and after a half-dozen times of being rejected for not entering the correct code (which was displayed 3.51+3.49) I just gave up on trying to become a member of the Forum. Any help and assistance is greatly appreciated, and thank you.

sounds like you figured it out though, ya, you'll need to go to next day to sell, that's how you build up a wad of cash.

With that said, walleye, pike and spotted bass all have high pay per pound. But it's a little tricky, it's not cut and dry.

I'll use michigan as an example. You've got walleye, pike and and catfish. Now you can fill your net up fast with catfish, but it has a much lower pay per pound, on the other end, walleye have a high pay but a 440 lb net isn't gonna fill up like catfish.

your situation is even more finicky, because as a new player, real life expereince doesn't count for alot. Leanring the game is parmount, the cash will come as a result.

My 2 cents.
Fish a location for minimum 5 days, filling the net everyday. Choose the species that gives the most money. What people dont realise, is that the cost of everything increased, but we also get more money from fish, if you dont want to see big numbers, just divide everything by 10, you'll see what i mean.

Another thing : Use the biggest Keeper you can get, you can replace the low paying fish, with a stinger you can't. When you get home, repair the keeper and put back straight away. This will keep the repair bill to the low thousands, instead of many thousands. :steamfacepalm:

You answered your own questions. Its weird... I love this game also, but there is that weird hump that I think alot of us have (#1 not knowing the fish auto sell at midnight was a HUGE HUGE issue for me) Also.. once you get to Florida, its smooth sailing from there. Next stop Michigan and which all your money problems will be gone. :) Now... back to my canoe. Cant wait for these new waterways!!! HYPE!!!!

The big one that got me was leaving through the "Leave" button instead of going into options and clicking "Quit."

I don't know how many times I played for 8 hours straight, committed to making it enough days to turn a profit.

Now I'm over halfway through doing a 30-day trip on each lake. No sweat, no grind, just smooth sailing.
