As such, I see no problem with people using videos to help their game along. Heck, I sometimes play videos of people playing Fishing Planet just to find new ways to enjoy the game that I haven't thought of yet.
SPOILERS...............................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................
Now, as to the Pike Slasher, what level are you? Do you have access to Rod Stands yet? If you do, go to Emerald Lake. Go to the left most side of the left most spot (the one without the boat ramp). To your left is a clump of lily pads/water plants. Set up your rod stand. Cast at an angle so that bobber lands just in front of the part of the vegetation that sticks furthest out into the water. You have 5 baits, so you can set up as many rods as your stand can hold plus one. Experiment with different depths. Move a few feet in each direction. If you run out of bait (unlikely, but it can happen) you just need to make a new batch. Just catch the fish you need again and it will get made, just like last time. I think I got mine fishing around the 25 inch mark, but I may be thinking of something else. I know on The Fisherman I got it fishing with the bobber set to maximum depth. I you can fish a total of three rods, have one at 25, one at 50, and one at max. See what happens. I think you need a Titanium Leader, but I'm not positive if the Monster Fish need them or not.
Hope this helps.
When the game starts, there is a quote saying "This game requires constant internet connection".
It should also say "Access to You Tube or similar is highly recommended to solve game quests". I am not bashing the game--in fact I think it is a very good game but it is too dependent on outside help in order to complete the quests.
What are the chances of you finding those monster locations (and at what time and depth) without You Tube or something similar? Slim to none is my guess.
And yes TheEvilFatGuy, I know where the Pike Slasher is and how to catch him but only thanks to You Tube. I am currently a level 37 fisherman. By the way, what is IRL?
A hint to developers. Provide players with more in-game hints. Maybe put up posters along trails or trees. Even have a lake park ranger in the game come buy and text "I hear the Pike Slasher stays at 40 inches and only hits at night" or something similar. There are many ways that clues could by included in the game without using You Tube or something similar.
hello!
as far as i remember, several monsters are in the same area where you get the baits for them. if you get the baits from pikes.. then where the monster will be? closer to pikes right?
you only need to try hook size, depth, and day/night time.. only if the mission dont gives you the hint. now you even have the info of the weight of some monsters, so you know the gear that you need to use if you want to have a short or a long fight.
now about your point #3: "How close does one need to be to the exact location of monster fish and still catch him 10ft, 30ft, 50ft? At what range will the monster not bite?"
thats a good question and not only for monsters. before you can get them rly close if you want.. but now devs are tunning a "player distance trigger" (or something like that) so, i think that we wont be catching any "big" fish too close to us (like putting the baits to 5/10 m as the telefloats setups without pressing F11).
so.. always try first the same area where you get the special baits when you are after the monsters unless the hits given say another thing.
good luck and have fun with the monsters! ;)
Also, the chance of someone catching the Pikeslasher outside a Youtube Video?
100%.
The spot I looked up online involved a boat and was located in another part of the lake.
I used what I knew about catching Pike to decide on the spot and fishing method I had described to you when it did not work out.
These were not originally part of the Leveling missions. They were part of the Halloween Event, and designed as either a treat for high level players in lakes they had long left behind, or as something you would gradually grind out through main force over the course of years. It's a bit of a reward for those of us who tend to leave lots and lots of Marker Buoys behind us like breadcrumbs.
This thinking was supposed to go like this:
1) This thing is called a Pikeslasher. The Journal Entry says it eats Pike.
2) Maybe it hangs around Pike hotspots.
3) As I have already caught many, many Pike in this lake, I shall try those Pike hotspots I already have Marked from my previous fishing trips there.
Some, like the Albino Blackfish, were cases where I never even tried to fish for the base species and had no idea where they hung out, and had no interest in catching panfish for days, so used a video for that. Found the Pikeslasher, Madeye Bufflo, Gormet Bass, on my own. I can't remember weather or not I got the Rainbow Outlaw on my own or not. I don't think so. I think I also used a video for the Elder Gar, and I know I needed one for the Dendrofin. I have no idea about the Zombie Catfish or the Voodoo Fish.
