The Lonestar Grind
Hi, I lost most my money, bad gear buying and getting nipped a couple times fishing without licenses, so now I have to grind Lonestar. My question is what fish should i go for to help get funds to go onto other lakes? Thanks in advance to anyone choosing to help.

Spotted Bass. Use casting spoons and mini bass jigs.

To add to this, I've found the 1/6 ounce gold casting spoon with the #2 hook to be the best so far.

Carp or Drum whichever you want to call it has always been the best money at Lonestar Lake however if you can get to Mudwater or Neherrin River they're both good places to go.

Mudwater only costs me 1200 coin to travel to. With a 220lb keep net I bring around 10k coin back so I average profiting around 8800 coin in a full day. Catfish at Mudwater average around 300 coin per catch. Use medium cut bait and a #4/0 hook with an 8 to 13lb reel, rod, and line setup. They bite anywhere on the screen from the fishing spot you spawn at on the left of the screen between the shore and lily pads at pretty much any depth. Cast out on the left side and let the bait float all the way to the right. The weather doesn't matter I've caught catfish this way in that spot in all weather, even when the activity graph was still very low I still get one at least every other cast.

Neherrin is a bit more expensive to get to but the Small Mouth Bass there average 250 coin and there's tons of trophy Bass there. The trophy bass bring in close to 400 coin and there's catfish there that pay the same. Same setup as above for catfish. I use an 8 to 11lb rod, reel, and line setup with a 1/2oz jighead and the yellow and orange 3" shad for the bass. The catfish, again, bite no matter the weather or activity. The bass bite almost all day too but they do seem to be slower during low activity times of day. The trophy bass are all over that map but I've had my best luck at the 'Nice Parking Job' spot and the spot right next to it on the left. I've had my best luck with bass at that location fishing the only spot on the south side casting anywhere but between the logs sticking out of the water is probably the best spot. I've gotten bass almost every cast there.

If we are expanding the discussion to which lakes to visit next, I would agree that Neherrin River is vastly underrated and is full of bass and catfish, but if you're strictly looking for a cash farm, the Walleye on Emerald Lake are the best source of this in the earlier lakes/rivers.

Once you are ready for the Everglades then there are some options that open up, but until then, I would say get to New York and farm Walleye. With a 3-4Kg test setup, #1/0 Narrow Spoons, preferably purple, but they all work fine.

I suggested Mudwater because it's probably one of the cheapest places to go in this situation where you're almost out of money and need to farm and grind to build up funds. I was and I'm still in that situation because I did the same thing - spent too much on gear I almost never use.

Mudwater and Neherrin are digging me out of that hole. Very very slowly but they are.
Isn't New York a bit expensive to travel to? I'm on a map I don't want to quit to check to be sure.

Lonestar Lake is extremely low level. The money there isn't great so the grind there is very painful. Mudwater is the next best place as long as they're level 4 and can get there. Neherrin is level 10 and 3200 coin for the first day so that's not something they can do with only 2000 coin.
If they can't get to Neherrin they definitely don't have the funds to get to NY.

New York is 3k, license is 900. I can make 10k to 20k there with a 200lb net.

We might be able to help some on a second front here, too. You said you've bought some gear that you either don't use, or don't use yet. What types of gear do you already have purchased? That might make a slight difference as to what lake is best to go to next.

Having said that, the Lonestar Grind should get you some money fairly soon ---- and once you leave there, stay in Missouri or NC or Colorado or NY, wherever you choose, for a bunch of game days in a row so that you aren't constantly paying travel fees. Pick one, stay there, earn cash.

Seems alot of folks are mentioning a 200lb keepnet, I have a 15 lbs keepnet and the 1 i found in store is for lvl 30 or so, i'm a lvl 13. If i fill it up i barely mke even.
Here's a story; So I'm grinding Mudwater and had bought a few days. I jump in when I see under licences I still have time, as soon as my second rod hits the water I get a strike, then the game informs me times ran out. Well ♥♥♥♥, so i reel in like a minnow worth 13 bucks and I release it, immediately getting a 1000.00 fine. I'm devastated,,then I hear my bell ring on my feeder rod. so i press "c" to "Clip" haha, nothing happens and i reel it in, another huge fine. The funny part is as soon as it took the second fine I get dlc spam about buying money because the game sees I'm getting "low" exact wording. Why didn't Fishing Planet warn me in the first point? How do I fish with - money ffslol

Not sure how I stay, sorry.

Right now I would fish for XP rather than money because you can't do much with that small of a net.

Also you can buy a Fish Jail stringer which holds 44 pounds, but it costs like 5000 so it may be a bit before you get it. Main drawback is you can't release fish from it.

To stay multiple days, just click on whatever button pushes time forward on your platform --- I'm on XBox so its the X Button for me. Every game day at 5am you "sell" all your fish back to the game and can continue on.

So even with a 15lb Net or Stringer ---- you can fill it with fish, fast forward to the next day (as opposed to leaving the lake altogether), and then you'll keep the money you earned, but have an empty net to then fill it again.

Multiple-day fishing trips are the key to profitability. Even with the 15 lb net you can just fish 5 or 10 or more days in a row in Texas and the money will pile up. You don't need to go straight to a 200 lb net or stringer, anything in between will do. I farmed out everything from Texas to Oregon mostly with just a 30Kg/66 lb stringer, and because of multiple day trips, that was plenty enough to get me the level, cash, and gear that was needed to tackle Florida and Alberta. And frankly, Florida and Alberta are where you need to wind up to make a huge base of cash for later in the game.

What game level are you at currently? Because depending on that Level and depending on your gear that you purchased, you may not need to stay in Texas for very long.
