inb4 that's what she said :P
>>>Disclaimer<<<
This a "game", so rl may not translate perfectly, but general "fish sense" returns big dividends. ;)
For instance same grub, cloudy day early morning, nothing bites on yellow, but I get way more bites on the green one. I personally consider the green one a darker, less flashy color...
But now, also take into account that I have seen comments saying fishes in game also loose track of the red color faster than any other colors, so even if the red is (again by my standards, considered darker...) if I get bites during mid afternoon, I know that late afternoon is time for a change. Again all that for me is about grubs.
Now with the narrow spoon, early morning and very late evening I get a lot of good results with the black one, but mid afternoon, I get far better results with the amolite (purple one... and purple is having the red color into it... again)
As far as silver and gold spoons... I'm not a great fan of them, as I often found other spoons and lures which gave me more and quicker bites... so I usually use them if I get nothing else working... but that's me... but gold for cloudy and silver for sunny is what I got...
No proof of anything on my part, just how I do it and from the rates of catches I often had in Texas, Missouri and Colorado, compared to the other guys in the room, I assume it works for me at least. As this pic will demonstrate, was quite proud at the time to fill my 50kg (~100lbs) in a full fishing day in Colorado. was a sunny day, so for sure the cloudy days are slower... but as Lightning mentionned too, slower retrieve helps a lot too.

And that one so you can see the in game timer rate of catches for me (Haileene)...

Not so my old friend high pressure low oxygen fish will be shallower. Low pressure more volitile weather more oxygen fish feed better in these conditions. Do not trust the game parameters like everything else it is so far off we might as well be ice fishing :D
seems very random to me.. some cloudy days, fish wants the bright lures, other cloudy days a darker one works better.
today i had 2 cloudy days in a row. same spot, same time, same type of fish.. day 1 was Lemon crank day, day 2, turned out to be 'Perch' crank day.
So im not sure you will ever be able to make a 'rule', best i have come up with, after some 800 hours.. trial and error.. :-)
Oops! Old Timer's strikes again! Correction made. Thanks for noticing my flub.
