Leader length
Does the length have any real effect for bottom fishing? In what situation would I want a long or shorter lead? Is it tied to hook or expected fish size? Just wondering cause IRL I usually just buy some pre made leaders at the store for bottom fishing catfish and they are usually only a foot or two long.

sorry, can't help, but i'm curious too, having never used that kind of thing irl... i would think, "long enough than the fish can bite without feeling that it's tied to a weight" ? Some fish are cautious

Yes it does, the length determines the spread of the chum with the current your in. If your in fast current you want to have it close to your bait, if your in slow current you want it further away. Other varying factors on the spread radius of chum. But that's a general guideline. Hope that helps.

How would your leader lenght affect the spread and/or speed at which your groundbait disperses? If anything the type of feeder you use determines that.

Your leader should be longer for finicky fish and shorter for more confident biting fish like carp.

I've only ever used a leader in reality to catch fish with sharp teeth. I haven't really done any bottom or feeder fishing though.

Same, But the whole leader setup is a big thing over in europe. So many different leader setups and how they use them.

BIG FLOW - LONG LEADER - NO FLOW - SHORT LEADER - COMMON SENSE REALLY - BIG FLOW THE FOOD IN THE FEEDER MOVES DOWNSTREAM MORE - NO FLOW THE FOOD STAYS CLOSE TO THE FEEDER - Sorry for caps lol

When im bottomfishing irl, I use short leader in strong current and longer leader in slow current. The longer leader lets my bait move steady in a slow current, and same effect I get with short leader in strong current. Im not fishing with feeder tho.

Edit: And also depending on which fish I target and depth of the water.
