bigger catch
Good examples of this are :
channel catfish : average 4.5 kg - 9 kg (10-20 lbs) / max up to 26 kg (57lbs)
smallmouth buffalo : average 2.5 kg - 7 kg (5lbs-15lbs) / max up to 16kg (35lbs)
northen pike : average 8 kg (17.5lbs) / max up to 25 kg (55 lbs)
walleye : average: " " " /max up to 20 kg (44 lbs)

So giving this numbersi wonder why the heck i'm catching far smaller game than i expected . I know that there are many factors to take in consideration like the hook size , bait/lure ,time of the day , weather and position BUT i still think that the fish i'm catching is far too small than the numbers above REGARLDESS of trophy / unique game i mean never got to catch any trophy or unique for any of those examples exept the walleye , i don't really know if that's the issue but the biggest trophy i got so far from the examples above was a FRIKING 2 kg walleye and i catch tons of it ...

I know that uniques and even trophy requires especial lures sometimes to get and here a link to 1 of my source of info for that kind of thing : https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1wEvjycxSaVLNmVOCIZPALsPvLtxnJSz_LDcPKowAFb4/edit#gid=264897961

This doesn't make ANY sense ... some people post some comments saying this is a progressive game whom you will catch bigger ones the higher the level i want to ask if this is true ?? BTW my level is 19 half a way to 20 .At the level i am right now my average ctachs are 1 kg (2.2lbs) - 1.5 kg (3.3 lbs) and maximum up to 2 kg (4.4 lbs) even tough i'm using 2/0.3/0 hooks as recomended for instance the walleye i'm still getting 1.5 kg (3.3l bs) in average ......same with smallmouth buffalo the biggest on record was 1.5 kg (3.3 lbs) WTH and the average catch is around 1 kg (2.2 lbs) or even less with semonia balls with #2 hook .

Compared with the number above of minimum 2.5 kg (5.5) and can go up to 7 kg (5lbs-15lbs) in average that is NOTHING WTH .

Well with a small hook i knda understand but IRL that would make no sense not being able to catch anything bigger .I get it that i need a 6/0- 10-0 for pike wich i never did but cmon they never bite .... it's as if the game locked me anything bigger than 2.5 kg (5.5 lbs) with average of 1.5 kg (3.3 lbs) and i'm not happy about it . Giving my level 19 i'm surprised that i'm that much limited by RNG , this dam devs think that grinding is fun then go grind yourselves 30-40 lvls .

Honestly , i stopped playing Fishing Planet because i'm tired of waiting when will the promissed update be available to us but mostly because the game is becoming insanely boring. The devs promised new fish species, fishing technics(bottom fishing, multiple rods and so on), map expansion to Europe but all we get are tournament updates and DLCs.Don't know why but it just doesnt have that somthing that used to have before what would glue me to the screen and i would enjoyy playing it but nowdays not so much. IRL you never know which fish you will catch on certain fishing spot (unless if you are fishing on lake) because fish do migrate. In game it just retarded, i'm 36th lvl and i know which fish and how big i can catch in certain spots. It's just so stupid. Now, i can't tell what is the problem in your sitation, could it be that you are using wrong lures or bait? Because there are certain baits for different fish size which is also dumb. I'm fisherman irl and from my experience there doesn't matter which bait you use for different fish size. I'm from Croatia and i fish on river Mura and i cought carp from 2 to 10 kg carp on worms and other fish species like chub or asp or barbel. If you try to do that in Fishing Planet there's no chance. I tryed to fish in game as i would irl but a-a. I tryed for carp in California with forms but it is pathetic.IRL there is no telling how big fish you can catch on warious hook size and bait types. Myby you will catch bigger fish later on when you will be bigger lvl but i just don't get why you can't catch anything bigger. It just doesnt make any sense. When i was lover lvl i had problem with reeling fish in.I had endles fish stamina bug. Once I was reeling the damn fish in fore more than hour and half irl, didn't want to let it go. After 10 or 15 min i spotted a pattern. Fish would come to 7 m and then went back to over 100m and it was just in a loop for hour and half and i managed to get it to 3 or 4 m but game crashed. That was also one of the reasons i stopped playing the game.

Why you spread rumours?

the nexw lake is not a rumour, it will be added this month or in spetember, and as the bottom fishing must come soon too, on the roadmap 2017, dev said bottom fishing will be added with the first european lake, Wepping Willow.
As there is soon an update with a new lake, logically the bottom fishing will be added soon too.
it's not a rumour it's on the roadmap since end of 2017, the new lake will be a carp lake, so for bottom fishing.
If you followed the FB page, you will see the new carps species fish are in development since few months.
And to go further, it's totally logical that the new update on FP will come soon, all fishing game made their big update few days ago and in the next week, 2 new fishing games will be released before mid of September, if FP team want to keep players on their game, they MUST release a big patch in this period, as they do since 1 years, they always follow the patch périod of otther fishing game.

I know all of this .I figured at least why i'm not catching the bigger trophy and unique ones ... simply because they aren't available on texas and new york as trophys .Aparently i can only catch youg channel catfish on texas lone star lake and it's only avaible as trophy / common in missouri for example same goes for the smallmouth buffalo (only it's counter part common/ trophy / unique has to be caought on louisiana ). Seems like devs bottled neck the new players progressions in order to give balance and a chance to catch something later than newbies can't when they start at low level lakes .Now it still doen't explain why they are still so small , for example as of now the northen pike (common ) should reach an average of 7 kg (15.4 lbs) easely while what i got from the new york emerald lake is far smaller than that (it was a 2 kg 4.4 lbs and was the most i could catch) while using the right bait , lure and retrieve technique exept the hook i used was 2/0 and 3/0 .What i think that is happening is that in lower lakes big game are purposely restricted in size and type (common/trphy/unique) along with respective overall size . I was just hanging around texas and new york i think that might be it but also the fact that personal lvl matter too.

On the Map page, there is a tab for fish species. This will tell you what size the fish can reach at that waterway. The lower level lakes are exactly that (lower level) to allow new anglers to learn without being wiped out all the time. IMO.

Go read my reply to wulfyxgamer and stop pointing out the obvious .... besides the fish tab deosn't especify sizes for that especific lake only the types (common/trophy/unique) , size wise it tells you the same FOR EVERY LAKE .Go check out yourself channel cat fish on texas and missouri and their respective sizes , same for other especies .

Well, your comments warrant an obvious answer.

"Common" does indicate an exact weight range. It's the typical weight range of a young adult. To know what that means in lbs or kg, you would need a little experience with said species.

And there's plenty of big fish in this game, just not in Texas. All the fish there are small so you don't break your gear constantly hooking up to big fish.

Also, many of the weights cited are extremely rare. I've done a fair bit of fishing up north, but I've never met anybody who's even seen a 55 lb pike or a 44 lb walleye.

Lastly, you seem unsatisfied with everybody's responses. I think the issue is your lack of a coherent question. From what I can see, you just posted this to complain that you're not catching enough fish. Most of the knowledge you need has been offered here. The rest is easily acquired through a little game experience.

Yeah, I did. It's 3 run-on paragraphs of complaint.

It doesn't sound like you've done much actual fishing, but 15 pound pike are not common. There's a lot of them some places, but you'll always catch way more small fish than big ones. That's simply because there's 10x more small fish that are a year old than huge fish that have survived a decade.

So, if you're fishing somewhere with young fish but no old fish, like New York, you should expect it to be pretty hard to find a good one. The later areas tend to not have the young fish, which makes the average fish size much larger. I'm in Alberta now and the average pike is 4-6 pounds. There's also 15 pounders out there, but they're rare.

And no, you don't need special tackle to catch trophies and uniques. Even with standard tackle and no ubersheet, you can find trophies pretty easy. Surface activity, submerged debris, all the usual stuff you would look for to find fish. Uniques are intentionally very rare, and unfortunately it would seem that they tend to spawn in a few isolated pre-selected areas. I've still stumbled across plenty though.

Now, if there's still nothing on this page that satisfies the purpose of your post, you should prolly refine your question/statement to provide a more clear point.
Maj.Tryhard Aug 4, 2018 @ 10:02am
Also, the fish you catch is not related to your level, beyond the fact that the places with larger fish are locked until you reach a higher level.

If you're really desperate to catch the biggest fish possible, all you can do is use a larger hook, which will mean you're sitting alot longer without a bite waiting for that monster to come along.

Generally, it's not worth the effort.
