2. Generally speaking, spinning rods will allow you to cast much further than casting rods.
3. The BassCaster rod + Counsellor reel + Braid line is the only casting setup (i know of) that will let you cast up to 47m (should be around 154 ft) with most lures, or up to 57m (187 ft) with a big medium spoon
4. If distance is important, go for a spinning rod (or a match setup + pear-shaped bobber)
I have a spinner that will throw a 1/4 oz lure 200 ft easily, and it's nothing expensive or fancy.
Maybe a ValueSpin 8'6" if I remember correctly.
The casting rods tend to be shorter on cast distance compared to spinning rods. When you look at the rods in the store. Try if possible to use one that is a Fast action. Mod Fast is second choice. A fast action rod will have more flex, meaning when throwing a lure, a fast action rod will act like a whip and will fling the lure farther out.
Your ValueCast is a Mod Fast action rod that can throw a 6/7 oz lure. But it's only 5'3''. I think at best, with a 6/7 oz lure, your farthest cast will probably be around 110 ft.
And try experimenting with different lures. Even if the lures were the same weight, some travel farther than others. For example a spoon tends to go farther than a crankbait.
