Unique Asps and Chub, Tiber River
Just putting this out in case someone wants it. Fishing the south side of the bridge, facing the castle and pulling in uniques daily for Asp and almost daily for chub (not going after them but it happens.) Fishing 2 float rods, both set up with Mono line and #1 hooks. 1 set at 24-36 inches deep with a shiner. This is the dedicated Asp pole though I have caught a few small catfish (a handful over a few days.) The other pole set 6 inches deep with a grasshopper.

From the south side of the bridge, look west towards the far shore at the reflections on the water. There are 2 bushes right next to the bridge and if you look at the reflections, you'll see a small right angle where the graphics doesn't exactly follow the curve of the buses. Drop both lines there and strip off some extra line to keep them floating on the far bank instead of being pulled towards the middle by the current. You'll get hits from that point to the 2nd group of 2 trees at any time. Pulled in 8 unique Asp in 3 days on both the grasshopper and shiner poles in that float run. Plenty of trophys as well. Unique size is usually around 13lb and trophy is between 7-9lb in that area. The grasshopper pole pulled in the chub, but I had miscast and dropped the line closer to the pillar then I wanted as there is a snag there. But not going to complain as I got a unique out of it.

If you're feeling adventurous, you can toss a line downstream from the same location for catfish, but I'll let you make your own decision on that. If you aim at the opposite bank downriver, aim towards the point. There is 9-15 ft water there that cats bite all day (though they do slow down.) I use a #1/0 with a 50 inch lead. Bait depends on the size you want. 2-5 lb will hit on cut bait or muscle meat (you'll get small carp too) without the need for feed. If you switch to shiners, you'll get small cats regularly and a few small trophys. If you switch to frog, you'll get 6-30lbs though you have to pay close attention as the cats will eat and sit. You'll get a few bell rings, it'll settle down with no pressure on line, then you'll get a message a few minutes later saying you lost your bait. So just because the bells aren't tolling doesn't mean the fish isn't there.

Going three poles, I'd caution you that it may get interesting as I've had 3 poles with fish on far too often. I basically, since I'm still leveling, just go for the shiner poll first, then the grasshopper, then the bottom line as that gives me the best chances to pull in points and money.

Nice. I was fishing under that bridge last night while I was watching Chernobyl. Didn't have your luck with unis, but I was only using a single feeder rod from my kayak. Pulled lots of chub and cats from around the 15ft hole. Clearly lots of good fish around that area, I'll definitely be trying there again at some point.

Not sure about boats, but the update that downloaded after I posted makes it harder to fish around the bridge so there may be issues with getting a boat under it. Have to fish 10-15 feet away and any cast towards the channel gets your bait returned to you airmail or it angle bounces to very strange areas. Almost like California fishing near the dam and a light cast towards the dam results in your bait ending up 40 feet behind you. But caught another set of uni's fishing just short of where i had been casting before, 1 each of Chub and Asp as well as 3 trophy cats of 25-28lb fishing downriver.

Might need to put a scope or a laser sight on that rod, man. ;)

I did a ton of fishing by the dam in Cali. Lots of good steelheads there. I noticed that there were a couple spots that were hard to cast to, but getting close in the kayak made it a lot easier. I'd usually drop my float within a few feet of the dam just fine. Hopefully a boat will help in Italy as well, I really liked that spot.

Laser scope is out of the question, but ended up with three fish on TOP of the bridge. Yup, you read that right. They took the bait downriver, ran to the bridge, then hopped up 40 feet (or whatever it is, then either ended up on the bridge or in the air past the bridge as my line was angled upwards. Didn't lose the fish but it redlined the poles even though the size of the fish weren't redline size.
