Mission Salmon hunt : Spoon Lure
Hi guys .
I am doing all the new missions i can right now and need some tips / help / suggestions for one of them in particular .

State : San Joaquin
Species : Chinook Salmon
Weight : 33 lb and more
Tackle : Any spoons

Back many months , we used to catch the Trophy Salmon in California by float fishing . I knew of 2 spots where to do just that .
Now that the mission is demanding to get that same Trophy but with a spoon , i'm not succeeding so far .
That's why i am asking for any tips / suggestions / help .

Thanks

This is the Atlantic Salmon in Alberta right ?

I would suggest this :

Use any Tiger spoon, the red or yellow and cast right in front of dock .
If you have a boat , ride around in front to locate fish .
A 1½ oz or 6/7 oz is good . Need to do a little countdown for it to sink a little . couple seconds , like 5 or 10 seconds is good enough .
They usually are not that deep .

There are couple of them also to the left , close to the rock wall, but , also lots of Lakers .

Good luck . Keep me posted .
Glad it help @DYEUZ.
@DYEUZ

Got the Trophy Atlantic Salmon at Moose Lake on Yellow Tiger 1 1/2 Oz. #4/0 just like you said.

Thank You.

Trying it now. Not catching a thing. Same time frame , same lure. Nothing. Not even a common let alone a trophy. Just cast after cast without a bite. Is there specific retrieve speed/method it needs ?

Sad to hear Marshall . Don't know what to tell you more . I do a straight retrieve with some occasional twitching , here and there .

Like mentioned above , if you have a boat , go look for them in the front .
If not , it could be just bad luck for now .

Keep trying .

What speed straight ?

What speed straight ?

Speed 1

Speed 2 will result in a faster spoon elevation . You will need to pause often , to let it sink again .
Hi, guys!
It's my tip for Mission Salmon hunt/San Joaquin.

Good luck!
I was there getting frustrated trying to catch the striper and just went around trying different areas. I landed a 28 lb trophy chinook on the X-Series medium spoon cast to the exact spot shown in Cauca6's 2nd pic. Wasn't the required fish, but if there are 28's there, 33's should be possible. It was late evening. Sorry, I don't remember the exact conditions.
Cauca6’s first pic spot is where I got mine, 2-5 am on a cloudy night as suggested, on my favourite green & black single spoon 3 dot 2 speed stop and go... this is another hang in there fish, I got mine the first cloudy night, my friend was on the lake fishing the same spots for significantly longer & the same thing happened for the unique chinook in Alaska, got mine 5th fish in the spot he showed me, he got his after me on his 8th day on lake...
Got it! 33.501 lbs. Just made it again!
Back in what I call The Back Channel. The area isn't on the location selection map. Basically, deep in the Beaver. >_>
11:35 PM on Day 5 - Clear skies - 53 F air temp, 57 F water. South wind at 0.2.
At the end of the central point with my kayak pointing south towards the berm. Anchored right up against the reeds at the shore.
Cast was to the right, about half way between the last set of reeds and large rock on the berm and where the channel turns toward the main lake.
Hook-up was only about 20-25 feet away from my kayak though.
X-Series medium spoon. Speed 2 with 3 dot Stop & Go.
