Popper, walker, topwater 3 dots?
First sorry if this is already posted somewhere in the forum I took a quick look and didn't find anything. I also looked on Youtube.

How do you get 3 dots with topwater techniques? I can get get 2 dots all day long and very randomly I get 3 dots when I fub a bit. Surely there is a way to get constant 3 dots like all the other techniques......

Ok, so I've been messing around for the last hour or so and I've come to realize that getting dots on poppers actually has nothing to do with the lures movement it's based only on the way you click your mouse to manipulate the reel. As long as you left-click about .25 seconds and then right-click for another .25 seconds you get 2 dots regardless if the lure moves at all..... I cast out a popper then let out a bunch of slack and the popper gets 2 dots with about 15ft of slack going out, lol. This leads me to believe the devs couldn't figure out how to make this work properly so they tied it to the mouse button timing.... SO LAME! I also did some more digging on their forums and people asked this same question and never got a response for over a month.... the only way to get 3 dots is if you miss a strike and the theory is this happens so you can get a second chance at the fish. So.... I'm guessing that if you could get a constant 3 dots you would probably get a fish on the line every single cast.

forget about the dots, you'll soon discover they don't matter.

Yeah these lures are clearly broken.

I've never had much issue with topwaters. They work really well most places.

Aim for 2 dots and you'll be fine, a method for constant 3 dot presentation with topwater lures eludes me (and many others), if it is even possible. Some have claimed to be able to achieve this feat but none have been able to provide evidence of them doing so.

What does this have to do with the topic? Nothing....

It has much to do with the topic. 3 dots, 2 dots, it doesn't matter.
My friends, i have been trying to bust this lure for a day now and i resorted to advice from a real life pro. I am happy to inform you that i figured it out. the 3 dot actually comes from letting the lure sit. i use speed 2, start reeling and pull your rod to the top (you should see two pops). STOP, let it sit a second or two. repeat. Presto, 3 dot popping. play around with the timings but it doesn't take much and is actually pretty flippin easy.

This post is almost 6 years old. I have not had a problem with top water lures since I started this game almost 4 years ago.
