4th of July event. Only bother if you have irl cash and In game baitcoins and cash to burn.

Garbage event. Costs way too much in baitcoins and the rewards are not at all worth it. I could spend all the baitcoins I have earned over months of play (177 baitcoins) and still not be able to buy all the lures (roughly 17 different lures required to complete), only to get 2 bait coins for completing the lesser stages of missions. Completing the main mission grants 13 baitcoins. Not even half of the cost of a single lure required to complete the first mission... 1 “patriotic walker” lure costs 40 baitcoins. Each historic fish caught grants only experience. No ingame cash or baitcoins. On top of that, the travel costs and fishing licenses required to go to roughly 12 different lakes will be astronomical. Any fun this event could have been was robbed right along the baitcoins, in game cash, and/or real cash this event required in the first place.



Traveling to flags/cannons in hopes of getting some of the lures without bait coins is also a waste of in game currency. “Better luck next time” or a pack of fireworks simply makes it nothing more than an irritant.



I truly think you guys could have come up with a slightly better method of approaching a special event than an all out cash grab. Was excited to do this event only to be extremely let down.

I'm still in the process of evaluation, but after 2 days of working it the numbers just don't add up.

To buy all the lures will cost over 300BC...that's nuts. So a secondary option needs to exist to get them.

Enter the cannons. To fire them you need cannonballs and fishing for them through snagging only results in maybe 5 or 6 per day, if you work for them. Firing the cannons only drop something maybe once in 10 tries; which means you'd have to travel to every lake, every morning, and hope to get one lure. Impossible to ever finish at that rate and the cost would also be very, very high.

As noted above, the rewards are not very hefty and the ability even to sell the items at the end to recover BC would not reimburse you.

A few suggestions:

1) Cannonballs should be able to be "found" in small stacks, perhaps 4, at random locations around lakes every day.

2) Cannons should drop something at least 30-40% of the time.

3) ALL lures should be able to be bought with in-game cash, not BC.

Otherwise this kind of pointless without a cash investment or handing over an exhorbitent number of BC. Neither will suit most players.

yeah its costly the traveling alone was 300k to catch all the fish , cost me 200ish BC and will cost another 100k-200k to travel around to get and shoot the cannon. it was fun though to go back to places i have not been too for awhile and catch all the fish

is true that for this event a lot of bc is needed to get a fast reward .. but with a bit of luck, planned trips and a lot of time to play, we still can do it for free ..
i got a few lures from fired cannons (walker, frog popper, spinnerbait, tubes and nymphes) on my 1st day; i left michigan to the end to farm some cash for the next day trips. also i still have some bison spinners, eagle spoons and s&s cranks from last year's event, and that -at least- saves me some bc for now..

we still have time to complete this event, it just started. dont drop it too fast if you have the time to play ;)

@Lenny: the texas farming spot for cannonballs works like a charm, that was a very nice share. thanks a lot! (got 13 yesterday and 15 today)

I finally came to the conclusion that it would be extremely difficult to complete the mission (in a cost and time effective manner) without the DLC. So, after going 2 for 26 on the cannon shots, I bought the DLC. Besides, this game has given me much joy over time so why not spend a little cold hard cash so the devs can buy themselves lunch?

over the time ive played i had the same opinion so i have bought alot of the seasonal dlcs since 2015 i have spent more on dlc lure/rods ec than i have irl lures/rods since 2015 there is no way im spending another £ on this game so for me ill not be doing the event

the event in a hole has a nice concept however what is bad is the fact that it looks like it was made sololy to make doller people can say yeah u can get the lures from the cannons but ive been doing it since the start and ive had only 3 lures for free! on top it looks like to even start the event u need to buy the lures in the first place again another reason to milk peoples resouces lets not forget the travels fees its all just stupid in my opinion a usless event and more reason to piss off the playerbase that you do have

This event is a complete rip off, yes I have done the event and only have to do the cannons 24 so far, started with 480+ bait coins and now have just over 270+ after all rewards, sold the coat and only got 10 bait coins for it, another rip off

In any previous event such as these when a fish was caught at least 1 bait coin came with it to help continue, nil in this event, it is all well and good to get the lures firing the cannons and get lures for free which I did but some of those were repeats of what I already had so no gain there, all in all this event is a step towards this game heading in the P2W direction, but we will see what happens in the next event like this, which is Halloween, then we will see the direction that this game is heading in, either free to play like it has been from start or a cash grab p2w.
