I would guess if you had done that you would have money. So I'm kind of puzzled to what you did with in the first hour you have played? And I would guess your going to be logging into Texas for a few days for Currency to buy a rod and reel.
You get passes to a couple of lakes and premium for 7 days rods reels and tackle enough to help you get a foot hold and save up some cash.
If you went to lake without your gear that could be the problem.
If you done that then you will need to use the leave lake option.
That will return you to home where maybe all you gear is located.
The Back pack and home storage are two different places that your gear/lures/baits etc are stored.
If the rod in your rod slot is a spinning rod then you can't add floats, feeders, normal hooks or bait etc, and they will show as greyed out as long as that type of rod slot is selected. Conversely if you have a float rod (telescopic or match) in the slot you can't add lures or jig hooks. That is the only time things are greyed out in the inventory. Things like keep nets, rod cases, tackle boxes and the like will show as greyed out until you click on the man icon and not a numbered rod slot, since these are all personal gear.
This will show why rods and greyed out.
