Hope this helps!
i fish every where so geting unlim licence is a no brainer i never have to worry about fines or licences i just go where i want and im good to go :D
I'm more a sort of careful guy with ingame money, so I guess my playstyle get more like LordDarkHelmet & Darren. Add to that, I have a pretty safe cushion with in game credits due to the sport DLC, but overall, all I did was set myself a base capital (15000cr), and always do all I can to grow it before buying anything big and always keep that safety (getting to 18000 now).
Note that as far as *farming* goes, I did not even visit all the places I could get to yet... never been to New York and started NC few days ago to reach my lvl16. Next trip planned... Oregon once at lvl17. Not rushing things to make the best of each trip worth the max I can get.
I may go for a variant at first though, like a short term licence (week) at first, but will save up big time for the 18+ lvl and buy those unlimited first and add later all the zones for fun.
EDIT : Still happy to read more of you OFC so just add things along, every bit of it is a greately appreciated input.
And note that for Colorado you need only the Advanced License, as many places and youtube vids may tell you that you need basic+ advanced which is wrong info.
which I can't remember.)
Also, you don't need a license to catch & release, only to keep. So if you just need 1 fish
to add to your trophy case, do it without a license.
I went from missouri to NC to Fla, then backpeddled to NY and Colo while the xp still had some value. Good thing too, bcuz Fla had already been NUBAR & Colo was the place to farm uni's,
(which has since been nerfed so no longer viable.).
Save your money for a boat, you prolly won't go back to the old lakes, and you still
have to pay for travel anyway, so grabbing a license isn't hard.
And starting a game and seeing a big stack of cash & gold is never gets old.
If the devs ever reverse the RNG nerfs, then returning to those lakes could be fun again.
It used to be 6 fish per game hour, now it's 3, and in some cases 2, so it gets boring pretty quick.
Ok good to know. So is the unlimited license truly unlimited, as in it lasts forever?
Also, I was looking at NC...is that a place where you could need to buy two, since you can't take trophy small mouth? So, you need a regular/advanced license to keep everything else, and the small mouth license only is needed to keep trophies?
So confusing....
Yeah NC you need :
- Advanced ONLY if you plan on releasing something... (if not and you plan to keep everything, then the basic is indeed sufficient... just watch out, in case your last fish that is too much on your fish keeper and you're forced to release... that could hurt)
- Small mouth bass and you're done
I did go for advanced and small mouth, for a week for now... will see later
EDIT : But reading in french the licenses... I suddenly have a doubt... I think I did buy the small mouth bass alone, and checked on the travel map the fishes... and I think I went for the advanced to not risk anything... That goes for 400 for the week, and honnestly that place gives you quite quicly your money back... I think in 2 IG fishing days all is paied already, and I did loose a lot of my time trying and discovering things by myself.
Alberta: requires trout and salmon licenses
California: requires both advanced and salmon licenses
North Carolina: requires advanced and smallmouth licenses
Oregon: requires advanced and trout licenses
i got em as i went along, to the places i was fishing the most, Florida, and NC, But i found, that when i could go to California, i was getting way more money in, than i could spend, so i ended up getting them all, pretty quick after.
