Hey jdb, You are lucky to live so close to a top water holding your favorite fish hehe, I wish I did.

UK - For me the best fish in the world to fish for is carp! Here carp fishing is a massive thing and nothing beats catching an original old scaley british mirror carp or a nice 40+ commmon. I know some of you will find that crazy but im one of those guys here that spends 1000's on gear and other bits to catch these fish. Not just expensive rods, reels, bivvys and tackle but also things like safety mats, soft nice beds for them to lay in once they are unhooked so they dont get hurt, mouth treatment to treat the hook hole before releasing them, special mesh mets to ensure no damage is done to scales or fins apon landing the carp and so on lol. The idea being that we keep the carp in the best condition for those who love to catch them in the future (Kids growing up). Anyway I have fished for carp for about 30 years or so now but other species I really enjoy catching here are.. Tench - Bream - Roach - Rudd - Eels - Perch - Crucians - Chub - Dace - Pike which are another favourite of mine up there with big carp to catch - Roach - Wels catfish although I have to travel abit for those. Id really love to try abit of salmon or trout fishing but know nobody who does this here in the South where I am and so have never really had the chance to. Same with sea fishing really, I mean proper big fish sea fishing.

Best fish of my life? Hard choice between 4lb 12oz Perch and 11lb 2oz Tench but to be fair, every fish is loved.

Biggest fish of my life? 102lb wels catfish (Caught in France)
Biggest Pike - 40's.
Biggest carp 64lb 11 (Also france)

Finally below is an old pic I managed to find on my pc. Most of my fish pictures etc are kept in albums and things as I dont keep much on this pc due to harddrive issues in the past and what not, so I dont really have much else picture wise of fish on here to show. Anyway sorry about the quality, was a rushed photo on a foggy old day and the thing was heavy too, as the expression of woahh, hurry up on my face shows. lol. I think this one was around 54lb.

In England I fly fish for wild and stocked brown trout and grayling. I could fish for Atlantic salmon but buying a new rod licence just for migratory fish would be a waste of money since I won't fish for them all the time (when they're in season). I ledger for chub and barbel.
In Scotland I go for sea trout (salmo trutta) on the fly and spinner. I remember as if it was yesterday seeing an approx 14lb salmon swimming slowly on the surface of a Scottish burn one year, and two or three 3-5lb sea trout swimming past a jetty another year, Christ what a sight that was !!! It's funny that once the larger sea trout take your spinner, it shakes its' head and you've lost it straight away. One of these days, I'll catch one and actually land one!!!

I tie salmon flies for some local clients every season (I get paid of course).

I used to fish on stillwaters while course fishing, but I prefer to be moving up and down a river with light tackle. I hate being sat in one place all day. I'm usually seen with 1 or 2 rods, 1 large or small net, bait or flies.

I live in south africa and we are truly blessed with great fishing. My true passion is rock and surf fishing, which is basically fishing the sea but from shore. Some of my biggest catches are a 190kg ragged tooth shark and a 50kg dusky kob. Also our freshwater fishing is insane. My biggest freshwater fish is a 15kg grass carp which I caught on fly, insane fight

I am like Pobsta. UK based so fishing species of size are pretty limited. As a young 16 year old I won the british junior championships match angling title Sponsored by Anglers mail and leisure sports. Captained our youth team to silver medal in the london youth games and we also won the junior nationals. Then I started fishing against those that taught me so well. Different ball game.

I have had the privilege over the last 40 years to fish with and against most of our national and england team and have learned many little tips and tricks. Before ill health consumed me I was on a lake most of the week fishing in matches and always used to go over to my local park just with my fishing coat and all the little gimmicks and help any young anglers I came across just to put them on the right track so they enjoy the sport for what it is.

Nothing beats being on a shoal of big bronze bream esp Irish ones. I could die a happy man right there :D

i grew up fishing all over Illinois in the US. I no longer trust myself to be on the water, but in my prime fishing years i did mostly catfishing, (hook and lline while waiting to run jugs), but also went on many bass, crappie, and walleye excursions.

I love going for Cutthroat trout. If I could figure out river fishing I would go for Brown trout, which is what my local river is famous for.

same as most here in the uk i grew up fishing muddy pools and the river severn in shropshire catching everything from gudgeon, dace, roach, bream &barbel.
as i got older i turned to mainly chasing carp and barbel but now due to health problems i have started lure fishing and catching pike, perch, chubb lure fishing is perfect for me as i strugle with mobility and after 1-2 hours at the bank im ready to crawl to the car lol :D
