Can't catch a damn thing in Michigan
It's quite an expensive trip so one would expect it to be a fruitful location, but it's been the worst experience of all maps thus far by a landslide.

Standing alongside other players at peak hours with a very reasonable float setup and waiting 15+ minutes for each bite.

I've watched KP Shamino's guide on YouTube which have historically worked very well. In Michigan - nothing.

Very curious about this as I refuse to leave until I've covered the cost of the trip/license.

hi, in that spot you can aim just straight or a bit to the right (looking the center of your screenshot) for pikes and muskies, i use there 6/0 or 7/0 hooks and shinners to try getting trophs-unis. you can cast from 15 m for pike to 45 m or so for muskies. 1.40 to 1.50 m depth.

i ve tried with some spinning setups, and one of the best working was the yellow medium spoon 4/0 and 6/0, casting from 50 to 60 m (aiming to the right of your screenshot - where should be your tackle info), medium speed stop n go / lift n drop.. sometimes crankbaits works too (the not too deep ones from 3/0 to 5/0 - 1 to 2.5m) / slow reel and stop n go.

on peak times i didnt wait more that 3 mins for a bite. (see the ubersheet on the sticky notes for uniq times if you want)

i dont see your lvl or tackle in the screenshot, but keep in mind that bigger pikes can cut your line if your drag is too high.. once i was using a long caster for 8kg-setup and after 10 mins of fight, i lose the crankbait when the fish go over 100m.. so a friendly advice: try to use something like a set for +12kg if you can. (or dont cast more than 20 - 25m) normal pikes are in that range i think..

about the income / gameday.. with a 200kg net filled with pikes i make a bit more than 30k. if i go for a mix of species i get 20-25k. if i only do night fishing and catz (to end a gameday fast) i get 18-22k... and looking your screenshot your net is for 70kg, so for now i recommend going after normal size pikes or maybe walleyes.. im not good getting walleyes yet (im still testing setups for that), but im sure someone can help you with that info, wallys are good xp and cash too - and dont need a heavy setup ;)

good luck!

@skillius.max Thanks, I had some luck fishing from the opposing side with the distances you recommended. It seems like a bit of a feast or famine, but my frustration has subsided. Ty.

You can try a bit of walleye fishing too at the floating dock. They have the best money to weight ratio. Night times are an absolute blast for them. The holographic medium sppons and the glow worms work really well at night. Day time they will take the red tiger medium spoon.

I used to love michigan, and would mostly fish for pike there, but just like your experience, i have been having a terrible time there recently. Prior to the last major update i could fill the 200kg net with no problems, but now its just ridiculously slow fishing.

Personally i wont go to michigan again unless i want to finish my catfish and/or walleye achievement.

I'm probably one of the very few who don't use that spot at all for pike. Fishing through reeds like a clown quickly got me annoyed and I found a different spot where I actually catch pike faster than that "in the reeds" spot. When you spawn at Woods of Eastern bank , also head right. But at the 3rd open spot stop there. On the other side you will see 3 sets of reeds. Big one left , small one in the middel and big one right. That is the lines you aim. Cast between 25m and 30m with a 30cm leader. I fill my 200kg net there before peak time is even over. Most times I actually have to stop at 160kg to leave some space for Walleye later in the day. It's a way better spot and you can actually fish normally there in an open space and actually see your bobber and all. During peak time you will also see lots of action on the water surface there as the pike and muskie hunt. That activity will help you to target where to cast.

Yes but can you catch uni pike there 🚼
Marshall_maz Sep 24, 2017 @ 11:03am
Haven't got one yet there so dunno. I never go specificaly for Uni's. Not too bothered with them. Filling the net in a fun way is my main way of play and the regular trophies do fine for that. Not gonna stand staring at reeds in my face just for a Uni. That corner is very bad design and a prime example of why we need boats.

How about catfish and sturgeon at night from 9pm. Maximum depth with large cut on a 6/0 on the floating dock. Most easiest fish to catch.

They're not worth as much as pike, but it's only a suggestion.

im with CycleDave go to floating dock and go for the catfish and sturgeon at night in peak times you will fill the 200kg net easy and it gives you between 16-18k depending on how many sturgeon you get then go to the next night etc etc good luck and tight lines.

Good for you, but it doesn't exactly help the OP.

** please remember that the OP dont have the biggest net yet (on his screenshot he is using a 70kg net) if he goes for catfish or sturgeon the profit / day wont be too much; looking from the other side, his fishing day -or night - can be shorter (but he will need a setup for big fish)..

fish price from ubersheet:
catfish = 70cr./kg, full net =4.900 cr..
sturgeon = 100 cr./kg, full net =7.000 cr.
pike = 170 cr./kg, full net = 11.900 cr.

sm.bass = 160 cr./kg, full net = 11.200 cr.
wallys = 190 cr /kg, full net =13.300 cr.

maybe after the 2x exp weekend he have the lvl (and credits) to buy a bigger net.. **

i use to aim in this zones for pikes and muskies, im testing some lures (less snags on the opposing side -screen 2).. yellow medium spoon and spinner (both 6/0) seems to work very nice by daytime -if anyone wants to try spinning setups. i will test the spot that @Marshall_maz said too.

@Tarquin_P: tnks for the info for wallys, works very good :)

have fun ;)

@skullius.max , I want to try your casting setup. I was trying casting ( as I am not a big fan of float fishing ) but couldn't find a setup that worked for pike. Will give the 6/0 medium spoons a go

I went back and played a bit.
For pike and muskie the frog poppers 3/0 and the normal poppers 4/0 also work well. Played around with lures i dont use much to see if they work, managed to get them on the 10cm shads, newts and nymphes, all with the 6/0 jihgead. The 6/0 rainbow spinner also works.

Tried lighter setups too. The new ardix match rod is strong enough, i also got uni bluecats and normal sturgeon on it easily. The pike and muskie fight harder but they come in eventually with no major hassles. The ardix 390 i like to pair with the doublepunch 6500.
For spinning setup i got away with using the loki 270 and the doublepunch 6500 or 5500.
Casting setup its obviously the galaxycast and vortex.

The lure setups worked well before the rivertex stuff cameout and they still work now. Plus when the setup is too heavy you lose xp, these lighter setups help with that.

I had the exact same thing yesterday, couldn't catch a thing at peak times. Fishing for Walleye on the platform and all i got were bass till the true peak and then..., nothing. For the whole duration of the peak. Pink worm/Tiger spoon, peak time, not a single Walleye? Really?
I quit the game because i thought there was something wrong with it.
Check my youtube videos if you think i don't know what i'm doing. :p
For the guy that doesn't want to hang around the reeds like a clown, you should definately watch my latest video, if you like to use poppers to fish that is. :D
