And every species that will bite a lure hits it, so i don't have to change up depending on species.
As I said some of these are really weird but drives the fish crazy.
Lift&Drop is probably what I use the most often. I used to do it both buttons at same time, right now I have worked toward the system I linked that I saw in HawkeyM vid. Lm for a bit, release and right after that Rm to lift.
Now not beeing a fisherman IRL I admit. I would have issues finding some variants I would think of ;-)
And to tell about what I think how they are used... that's how to trigger certain fishes ? or used by what we have heard from other players... like a sort of a pool of players using this oor that ?
EDIT... Btw in french we have it written like that LIFE&DROP... not lift&drop... what's the correct one ?
*Pokes SlippyFish...* see ?? those translation mistakes I was referring to ??? I mean... it's a freakin copy / paste thing.... and it has been like that since I started to play... Late 0.6
Do you imagine a non fisherman learning to play the game playing in french settings, but totally able to read guides and understand english vids... you can't imagine how long it took me to realize it was the same as Lift&Drop... I thought it was a different retrieve.... yeah yeah I know... polishing details...
LifE = vie in french
LifT = lever in french

Right mouse button and pull rod to pull lure through the water without reeling.
Simultaneously release RMB and click left mouse button while releasing rod tension to reel in the slack in the line while returning rod to original position.
Repeat.
This does collect the line pretty quickly, so it's only really useful when you've got a LONG swim to fish in. There's no point using it in a situation where there's only fish for about 10m of your swim.
More recently I tend to use stop&go and lift&drop the most - usually S&G when it's a longer swim and L&D when it's a shorter one (due to S&G being a quicker retrieve than L&D).
Also, in deeper waters, I used to always wait for the lure to hit the bottom before starting my retrieve but I realised recently that S&G works from the surface all the way down through the water, so now I don't bother waiting, I just start a slow S&G pretty much as soon as my lure hits the water, allowing gradual sinking while retrieving. Saves a lot of time in places like Alberta hunting trout for example.
I also do my L&D differently to the videos incidentally.
Instead of "both mouse buttons on, both mouse buttons off", I go...
RMB to lift lure.
Release RMB.
LMB to collect slack.
Repeat.
