From a previous thread here is what I always carry that will give you options for almost any waterway or fish in the game:

Valut 7 rod case.

Rod 1: Featherlight 7' (8 lb line)
Rod 2: Jigwinner 8'10" (12 lb line)
Rod 3: Thora 8'6" (20 lb line)
Rod 4: Galaxycast 8'6" (28 lb line)
Rod 5: Rivertex Salmonster (Zeus) (39 lb line)
Rod 6: Nero 14'10" (12 lb line) or Fenix 14'10" (20 lb line)
Rod 7: Brutus 9'10" (33 lb line)

^Good list^ ( V extra info for anyone that finds this thread V)
You will need more lure rods than float as the range of different weight lures is quiet wide,
float gear is dependant on the bait not pulling the float under and not tackle weight, so take a full selection of floats = xlow-low-med-high-xhigh
1-5 are lure rods
6a/6b -7 are float rods

I would recomend a loki 8'10" in there in place of another rod (probably the featherlight or galaxycast until it's rebalanced) and to specify for the rod 5 you want the 8'10" not the 8'2". It really depends on the fish you want to go for. If you're going for some lighter weight fish you may want 2 or 3 light weight rods and the same for heavy fish. All the rods mentioned there are really good and are worth buying. As are other rods not mentioned. This is a very good set but I would definitly recomend the loki as well. Otherwise play around and see what you like best, but I would stay away from the cosmocast. They're expensive and cant cast far.

I would def not drop the Featherlight off the list for the Loki. The Featherlight is perfect without over doing it for places like Colorado and most fish (save the uni) in NY. The Loki provides a 25 lb setup that slots in betwen the Thora 20 lb and GalaxyCast 28 lb. If anything I would swap with the GalaxyCast.

FYI, I also swap out the 12 lb test on the Nero for 8 lb in places like Colorado as well.

Galaxy is being reworked in the next patch anyways so we'll see where it falls.
