although maybe the outlines would be useful for a start?
.But that said i maped out the deaphs of cali back when i first got there to try and find other areas for carp lol but its just a scribbled drawing with plenty of coffee stains on it now :D
Stop wasting coffee!
i just started a F2P account to see how tough it really is to progress from nothing with no perks, and it seems depths have changed substantially at texas since i took my last noob account through there.
the cranks could help somewhat, although it wouldn't be extremely accurate.
cranks actually could work fairly well now that i think of it.
equip deepest crank and cast from equally spaced points all around the lake and take note of how much line is out when it hits bottom, then connect the dots all the way around. it would at least give a general idea of the topography, plus some of the snags.
Like Darren mentioned, anything over 99 inches/250 cm would be unknown, but that could just read MAX on the chart. It really doesn't make a difference either way. I can float 99 with shiners over one hundred feet of water (so I say in my head) in Alberta and still catch fish.
Although I suppose there could be a counting mechanism I could use. Take 2 places that have absolute depths - lets say Quanchkin. It's right around 30 inches everywhere but the cat holes which are 85-90. Use the same lure and count. You should be able to reliably gauge the depth by timing the lures descent. 20 FATHOMS CAPTAIN!
what we need is a marker float :D so we can count the reel handle turns :D
Except in certain areas (like Alberta) there are under water weedbeds that your lure often gets hung up on in decent in many areas.
:edit:it would be nice if they could do somthing like that thou that automaticly puts a mark on the map each time you catch a fish then it would build a fish capture map too :D
this is actually one i would consider re-opening the wallet for.
