Fishing Planet & DLC -- FREE Everyone Should Read.

This is coming from a gamer who has dropped hundreds of dollars in this game (multiple FP accounts), who has all but one advanced licenses unlocked, and well over 2 million in game cash, and so much inventory that it takes literally up to 15 seconds to load some inventory slots. Almost all the inventory of mine was purchased with gold coins just before the BaitCoins went live.

The developers obviously don't get it, or we as the gaming community keep on spoon feeding them money for their re-skinned content. I will get in detail about the game content below;

They would not need to rely on sales of BaitCoin, or Premium memberships if they just had DLC that people actually wanted. Things that would make the game different, or a nice perks (but does not need to be game changing to the point where people who don’t have it are at a serious disadvantage, but would make the people who don’t have it want it even more.)

You can purchase a Premium Membership to speed up the game XP, or to speed up the fast forward timer. But at the end of the day you are going to get to level 40 and realize that you wasted your money. The game experience at level 40 is exactly the same at level 1. However, being level 1 (and being new) you have many things to look forward to. At level 40 there is nothing left, and it has been this way for as far as I can remember. I repeat, nothing to look forward to so don't rush it and enjoy the free ride. The leaderboards don’t even work for all the fish species… so you better make sure you caught the biggest one of that species or you are not going to see how you ranked.

Many Games offer DLC as something new; it’s usually in the form of new places to go, new content to see and it keeps the game fresh. This game offers you DLC in the form of a "re-skin" of items that are ALREADY in the game and has nothing, once again nothing unique about it at all, you are able to use these items earlier to speed up your gaming process. If you knew there was new DLC that you had to be level 40 for (or whatever level), then I’m sure people would purchase the Premium Content in order to speed up their leveling so that they would be able to experience this new content. (In this case the developers would not only make money from the DLC but also from Premium membership if someone wanted to rush level.)

The game already has currency for you, you receive it for catching fish. If you are patient the game provides everything for you. Once upon a time there was gold coins, and you would receive them for catching unique fish. That has now been replaced with BaitCoins which can only be purchased for real money, and let’s face it, the items you can purchase with it are nothing really special (besides advanced licenses, but if you are a good fisherman/woman you make enough money to continue on anyhow without these.)

If you look at the steam charts, this game has lost a lot of players... but then makes up for it now and again. As for the longevity of this game, I could not say because there has been nothing new for the longest time. I want to believe this game will be around for years to come, because it is enjoyable but at the same time dull with a lack of luster from content. We have been looking at the physics bug fix since the last major patch (many, many months ago) without making a whole lot of headroom/ improvement.

Oh and they removed the VR, which is another thing to gripe about. Advertising the game as VR and then removing it later on down the road without word of when it may come back. I would not have even thought about playing/buying a fishing game. I bought it because of the VR hype and it was a blast playing. It's now rather flat...but with a curved monitor.

Here comes the FREE; advice.

I’m not saying for you to not spend your money, I have. I am saying that we should be expecting more from the developers in order for them to earn our money, and we should hold them to a higher standard.

Wow, literally thought I wrote this..

I've only ever sunk money into DLCs back when they were actually different, this was before they release the same rods/reels/lures into the in-game shop that had the same stats as the DLC versions.

Since you can purchase everything in game now with in game currency, I see no reason to purchase DLCs because, well, what are you going to do with all the baitcoin/currency in game that long time players have accumulated?

Well I do hope they shift their position on re-skin DLC packages, they are pointless tbh, especially for players who've played this game for a long time.

Spot on mate. "Holding them to a higher standard" would be the tricky part though. We can voice our opinions on here, close our wallets, write the reviews but I fear plain logic plays no role here. I can tell you one thing though, if I knew then what I know now, I would not have bought all those DLCs. Joke's on me though because they have my $$$.

I don't have regret for spending hundreds of dollars with FP, I simply chalk this up to be another day in online gaming. There are games out there that I have spent thousands of dollars on purchasing content, online currency and leveling. So a few hundred is not the end of the world, but I certainly won't spend anymore with the state of the game the way it is.

The difference being, the other games provided me with a lot more progression and I wanted to have the best of everything, being able to do things that would normally take a team to do. A re-skin of an item that is already in the game won't do it for me, or a quick experience booster or time reduction.

I think they were having problems with vr so just concentrated on moving the game forward people with vr is a small percentage of players so i think they have make the right choice.
I have vr myself but would rather more content if the vr problem will take to long to sort out.
