Plus bells look unsightly and cheap, I remember them when they came out in the shops in the UK you didn't need to buy one as those that did threw them away soon after.
NAH, prefer a night light at the end of my rod IRL shore fishing, plus I can hold a convo while watching the tip, bells are total rubbish.
Sure when bottom feeding or something similar but then why not just use an electronic bite detector that holds the line by the reel, once the line is pulled from it the alarm go's off then it will no longer have any connection to the rod, where your so called bell is and going ding-a-ling while fighting the fish, (annoying sound), 'but I can take it off', I hear you say, how your rod is under tention from the fish so it's out of reach, perhaps you could reel in a bit and give the fish a bit of slack while you are fumbaling at the wrong end of it to remove the bell, (message, fish lost due to line tention) so really it is usless in the game, perhaps the Devs could make it auto gone when the bite is detected but then that is just being lazy and is not really a simulation of fishing.
YEP!, I am bell bios, hate the things!.

The idea is to set the rod down, and place multiple rods into holders. You ever bullhead fished at night? Not uncommon to see ten poles all lined up with bells and glow-in-the-dark pins to indicate bites.
