Actually I am wrong 14" telescopics are readily available in the US as well.
Now that I know that they are called bolognese fishing rods, I find them easily.
Seems odd that this game is set in the US but yet the beginner fishing gear is something found mostly in Europe and hardly seen in the US.
Ive seen videos of how people fish over seas and they seem to like very long poles like the Bolognese, and those extremely long poles that are something like 30 feet long and they have to sit in a chair just to hold. I think they call it Pole Fishing.
It looks interesting, but I always wondered why they fished like that.
Are there Bans on Boats over there so they have to get the longest poles they can find to reach those places?
You are preciely right about that.
as for them using them as beginner gear i have no clue lol the game is atm only usa but its called fishing planet so hopfully they will add the rest of the world over time.,i hope sooner rather than latter cos im getting board shztless of catching bass,i want to catch some nice barbel and tench and chubb ect :D
boat fishing isnt as popular over here as it is in america a lot of our pools are a lot smaller but on some of the rivers/lakes boats are used mainly for fly fishing and lure fishing thou
Apart from what 'New_Rod' said, pole fishing is a lot easier for bait presentation and bringing out lots of the really small fish when the going is tough or in a competition. They don't use reels because the last 2 sections of the pole contains a length of elastic, used to 'play' the fish while shipping the pole behind you and detaching one section at a time.
A small bait cup can be clipped onto the end of the pole which ensures small amounts of bait go into the exact spot you're fishing, time after time. It takes skill, such as, my bait usually bounces out of the pot as I'm adding sections and shipping out. Usually only 3 maggots left in it at the end! lol.
Americans are not as patient as we Brit's and Euro's, they feel they have to be doing something all the time for fishing to be "fun", whereas we will sit for hours/days/weeks just to catch one specimen fish.
if they really wanted to give it a "beginner" feel, give us a cane pole.
As a beginner, I used a 5 foot crap pole with a tiny little spinning reel at 3 years old. I feel like beginners wouldn't even consider using a match OR a telescopic pole.
The reason they added them was for variety though.
I think we should be able to match any spinning gear with floating - period.
i spent a good 20 years of my life fishing for big carp and wouldnt worrie if i spent the whole weekend and didnt catch 1 fish it would make catching the next 30lber an acievement :D
i feel the same now about my pike fishing i enjoy walking the bank chucking a lure and if i get a fish thats a bonus lol but i know not every 1 is that patient
