Fish there range from under a pound to 23 lbs. There is no magic gear you can use in FLA or anywhere that will make you immune to and XP reduction when catching smaller fish.

thx De but i have close to simular set-up, right reel maybe wrong rod, and get exp hit on trophy LM bass, just dont want to spend 22k to get same hit. Does your uber sheet with matched rods take the exp hit into account(for my future combo purchases)

If I was trying to avoid an XP hit I'd probably use a Jigwinner there (12 lb setup) but you are going to have longer drawn out fights at times and your gear is going to get more beaten up meaning a higher repair bill.

jig winner takes more xp hit than aurora in FL.

new guy was there post-patch. ;)

8' 2" aurora with prima 3500 is a great little rig.

And even longer fights and more to repair. I'd stick with the extra power of the Jigwinner.

The 2 rods mentioned are good picks. I also like the Argo 6'3" alot for Florida. You can't make long casts with it, but you don't really need to on a couple of the pegs. You get the option of reels with a wider range of retrieve speeds for when the fish are being picky. You can use lures up to 1 oz with it which opens up a wider selection of crankbaits.
