If its a match or telescopic rod you will see a spot for the bobber and the line leader adjustment, with spinning and baitcasting rods you won't as they use lures only.
Everyone starts the game with a tele float rod setup, since you've not played for awhile and the game said you didnt have a rod equipped it could be in your home storage (unless you sold it)

Nothing wrong with a Zebco, I have a 30+ year old Zebco sitting in my garage, it works great.
The game really will get easier to understand, just takes a little time, the learning curve is a bit steep, just ask there are plenty of people in game and here willing to offer advice. Have fun!
