SPOILERS - Is that really the daughter?

Major spoilers throughout posting.

In the late game when you are dragged away from the gas chambers area by Malan, he shows you this dollhouse-like area where John's daughter is supposedly running around.

She seems very young and her hair color is dark, unlike the blond color from the opening.

John seems to recognize her as his daughter, but it seems strange to me.

The plot is very scattered in the endgame so it is hard to tell what is going on at all, who is alive, and if they died, when they actually died.

Based on Te'ah's goals to preserve research and the note on Malan's experiments that says Ellen was already used to give birth to a hybrid, it seems like both Ellen and Rebecca are already dead before John is brought to the dollhouse room.

Because the calendar implies that it has been 3 years since John was first put in stasis, and because PDT notes everywhere say that women used for breeding in Project SEED must have a RECENT pregnancy, I think that Malan could have released Ellen from Stasis first and forced her to have his child before she was used in the SEED experiment.

Which suggests that the 3 year old girl was Malan and Ellen's child, not Rebecca.

But honestly the plot gets so fuzzy in the late game that I am not sure this point even matters to the game's ending.

Hi Zekibot. Thanks for the comments. I would point to John and his state of mind at this point. His suit hints gradually at the degradation of his mental cognitive reality - which means that the player is experiencing the world as John would see it (at least that is what we wanted to happen :) ).
