In the meantime I can tell you that Cayne had a great atmosphere and that I loved it despite not being very fond of point and click games in general. It really made me want to check out Stasis once I discovered it existed.
So in summation to answer your question, YES. YES INDEED THIS IS WORTH A BUY. And I'm saying this as somebody who hated Cayne for the most part and don't even like this genre. It's good. It's like, really good. I would highly suggest you buy it and play it.
And lastly holy Christ devs, why on earth haven't you made a full scale CRPG yet? For one thing, your improvements over Cayne with this game are vast. It would be even weirder if Cayne came after, which it did iirc. But Stasis itself is an absolutely AMAZING game so far and is lacking the absolutely puerile legs and instead is made by what looks like an actual vidya writer. So I would be very interested to play a CRPG from you guys that's somehow exploring Cayne Corporation and the general background plot. I would play the hell out of a crpg like this and it would stand out as being incredibly unique: a horror crpg set in space
This is hilarious
SOMA is one of my all time favorite games!
Later I played CAYNE which I loved...and I compared it to SOMA in themes. And I just had to play Stasis next.
