Since SONAR writes it's own registry keys, Steam isn't aware to clean them on a basic uninstall through the client. It's pretty easy to perform a clean install via Steam, without re-downloading data files every time.
1) Close SONAR
2) Open up the Registry Editor (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4027573/windows-open-registry-editor-in-windows-10)
3) Delete the following hives:
• HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Cakewalk Music Software
• HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Cakewalk Music Software
• HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Cakewalk Music Software
4) Right-Click on SONAR in the Steam Client - Choose Properties
5) Go to the DLC tab, uncheck any items that state 'Professional' (all content is inclusive with Platinum)
6) Go to the Local Data Tab and select the button labeled [Verify Integrity of Application Files...]
7) Allow the client to finish updating, and finally run SONAR.
That's will rewrite all of the install specific keys and you'll be back to square 1 with just Platinum installed. You'll need to re-add any additional VST folders you had previously added.
Great! I'm not sure what happened the first time around. Keep us updated if there's any further issue(s).
