You have to do it in Oculus Home with the headset on, on the menu bar click the cog for settings and you can turn guardian off in there.

yeah mate already did all that LOL, still when i get ready for a race with the 2 minute countdown i have to quickly get the controller and go through the steps.

Ahhh sorry then, not sure man, if I find any info I'll post it here though, good luck :)

No worries Jim, i have been back and forth with oculus but keep getting the same scritped answers mate.
might be a refund i think because i am sick of being on the grid putting my rift on and it wants to redo the bloody guardian even though its disabled!

This happens like 9 times out of ten hey, very annoying. Not once did i ever have this issue with my CV1 rift, not bloody once.

I had this issue when I first got mine, but an update seemed to fix it, so I can't help, are your using the beta version of the Oculus app? I am, maybe that could help?
Sorry man, wish I could be more use, when it used to happen to me it was super frustrating, I feel bad for you

I might try that mate, i did the firmware last night and went through the whole setup again and even disabled guardian again and then was fine for 2 races.
Third race, sure enough on the grid, put headset back on and "We cannot detect your play area" lol.

I asked them for a reg key to disable it but i might try the beta. The HDM sits right next to my monitor at arms length ffs so i know it aint going outside the play area.

Anyway i will plug along

Just a heads up fellas, i had all these issues where it would cut in and say i have no area etc.
What fixed it in the end was going to C:\programes\oculus\supportand reinstalling the driver.

Havent had one issue since and so much for oculus support, was pathetic at best

So did it fix the guardian thing? Just got the rift s and running into the same problems. Also is it possible to play without the controller on?? (Just like the cv1 i dont connect my controller each time i play with a wheel) its so annoying.

Gotta look into some setups because right now im having pretty bag tearing (or lag, stutter or whatever the name is) and one freeze already!?

Thanks

yes mate this did fix it for me twice
After the last update i had to do this again and also the sound was very low and after doing the driver re-install it came back to full sound levels.

Also i use a iPhone set of speakers plugged in to the rift and sort of wind it around the HDM a few times and then feed it through the loop so just a little bit hangs down and i can plug them in to my ears, its not neat but it works really good and better than a full headphone set over your rift.

Just goto C:\Program Files\Oculus\Support\oculus-drivers and run that

Great!
Can you play with both controller off? Like batterie removed..
MISTER WU Oct 26, 2019 @ 7:16pm
i think so, i have to change batteries every 2 weeks with verylittle rift use hey because dam they chew the batteries, i only connect the right man
MISTER WU Oct 26, 2019 @ 11:07pm
yeah butman my old rift CV1 the batteries would last me months without use, i cant understand why they chew through batteries.

Anyway, i took the batteries out so i dont even need the controllers with car racing games like pcars.

I much preferred my CV1 touch controllers to be honest, I really do.
They felt better in my hand and batteries lasted ages.
The new ones are OK but not as good for me personally

for the Rift S can you turn them off while playing with the steering wheel?

Seems like mine need to be close and with the batterie in otherwise oculus looking for them?? so annoying

Sort of, it seems like if they go to sleep then it's OK, but I get what you get a lot too, it's a real pain - I also get the message to set up my play space a LOT, it drives me mad, never had any of these issues with the CV1
