He is right though, since I purchased the season pass dlc last week, I find the Porsche dlc sounds weird, and the down shift sounds are very low, it is so bad as the OP stated, that it makes using some cars unplayable or not fun to use, the issue is with the down shift volume.
There are complaints on other sim racing blog sites, that alot of the car sounds needs fixing.
To the OP, when testing or fixing work rounds for project cars 2, never delete the project cars 2 folder located in document, it is best to rename the folder to something like 1project cars 2 or project cars 2a
ok ill bear in mind renaming is best, i just know i had some issues with default settings and ended up having to go back to default and deleting sorted it for me without having to un install and re install the game. but yeah thats why i said mibi just move (rename) the folder to test to see if that will actualy fix it if all else fails. i wasnt aware there was complaints about the dlc other than the porche sounds rubbish compared to other games like assetto corsa but this didnt sound related to that and more in general cars have sound issues.
If you can hear the menu and start sounds but not the in-game sounds - it's possible that the headset thinks it's not attached (to your head) and is pausing the audio - there is a small LED and sensor inside the Oculus Rift goggles (between the eye lense up at the top). Try covering that with your finger (or something) and see if the sound comes back. It seems to use this to detect whether the headset is worn (I'm not sure if it's the reflection from your forehead it uses or the lack of ambient light coming in from outside).
