Difference between soft and hard tires
Hello, i did a little comparative on Donington with the AMG GT3 and didn't find any advantage for the soft tires, they last less longer and are slower in lap time !
Can anyone explain me what's the point of soft tire and where to use them on GT cars ?

In today's world of tire compounds, rarely is it faster to run a tire that is too soft for the conditions; you run the tire appropriate for the track temperatures and that is the tire which will go the fastest. The days of a 'soft compound' that just goes off faster are pretty well gone, at least for GTE. So, the soft should work in cold temperatures and the hard should work in most others."

Now, F1 is a completely different animal where they engineer the tires for specific performance and wear so the "Soft vs Hard" discussion is around everything but F1. ;)

Soft tyres are sht in any condition if you ask me they are a joke. Even in cold conditions hard are better but now we have to do 3 laps to got them up to temperature, great fun that's what I enjoy doing 2 pointless laps🤔 soft tyres were the best tyres up until patch 2 then they most of though I don't like them soft tyres they keep given me dirty looks I know what I make them sht that will teach them

In real soft tyres provide greater grip over a shorter perioid of time. Hard tyres provide less grip and last longer. that is how its suppose to work.

yep it pretty clear soft tyres on most gt cars are sht in any condition in pc2 cold or hot. if you spend 3 or 4 laps in qual heating hards you will be faster than softs and in the race the tyres are up to temp so no need for softs. point less tyre only reason to use them is if its winter and you have joined lobby and only have time for one sht lap.

Thats a pirelli F1 brain washing idea, outside of F1 its nothing like that.
Thats why you see LMP1`s doing more than 2 stints on one set of tyres.
