Struggling with rain physics in race
Hi!

I'm new to the game and loving it, but I can't seem to nail the wet. From the start line I'm already having to race around 40 difficulty points lower than in the dry, but the strangest thing is that on lap 1 I can drive safely, but then after that there are weird moments (especially the start/finish straight) when the car loses all traction. Sometimes it will keep trying to spin out even when going into the final gear and my time on the straight is genuinely spent wrestling the car in a weird zig zag. Sometimes, it just handles normally like on lap 1.

Has anyone else experienced this and is there anything that can be advised, please? I was thinking tyre temps may be a big factor as they went blue after a while, but it doesn't explain how I can drive normally on other occasions in the race.

Cheers in advance!

Tyre pressure might be too high so your tyres arent getting up to correct temps?

You aren't hitting puddles are you because they will definitely cause you to radically lose traction and force the car to yaw as well. Which track? As some are worse for puddles than others?

Wet weather racing in PC2 is a bit frustrating because of the puddles. If they got rid of the puddles entirely except for the very edges of the track it would be a massive improvement to the game. They are the worst thing by far in PC2.

Ah I've not noticed them but it could well be puddles, it's happened to me with the KTM at Snetterton and the classic Lotus F1 car at Monza, both times I've had massive zero-traction moments on the straights after lap 1 even moving through higher gears, and occasionally around other sections of the track.. I'll keep an eye out for puddles and see if that helps. I'll also decrease tyre pressure.

Thank you for replying!

I havent noticed Snetterton for being massively bad for puddles myself, it's Silverstone that is really bad in heavy rain. Don't know about Monza. But that is most likely the issue as any car going fast on the straights with any sort of downforce should be very stable even in the rain. I assume you did have wet tyres on lol?

Best way to ensure you have the right tyres on is to set up several pitstop strategies - like dry tyres only, wet tyres only, tyres and fuel only, quick repairs and full repairs etc. Then you can pick and choose when entering the pits which strategy to use to ensure you get the correct tyres and ensure the pitstop is as fast as possible.

Especially because you may go into the pits when the rain has stopped but track is still a bit wet and want slicks put on to drive on the drying line, but the ai might put wets back on. Best to tell them emphatically rather than 'rely on their judgement' which is often flawed.

Ah mate Le Mans is a nightmare, puddles everywhere on the back straight!! Even with wets on I just cannot do it; I wouldn't mind so much but the AI seem unaffected by it. Your pit strategy advice is so helpful though, thank you!
