Report a translation problem
Looking at the list of other people's times it appeared to be just as random. Some slow times had ghosts, some fast ones didn't.
Edit: the last time I looked at it was a couple months ago, something may have changed since then.
Anyway, I tried a handful of time trials on smaller tracks (Spa, Road America, Laguna Seca) and found the game was successfully saving my personal best with a ghost car for each track at each vehicle class. Seems this issue remains for long circuits
