Mandatory Pit Stops????

Just started playing this game a few days ago and I am having a blast. I am not a Sim expert so I am taking everything gradually. This morning I tried my first Ginetta GT5 race: I read in the rules that you had a mandatory pit stop, therefore I planned a strategy (even got the achievment for it!) and managed my fuel in order to have the pit stop exactly in the middle of the race. I was 1st with a decent advance when I entered the pit lane, so I did not worry when I saw the whole flock overtaking me while I was refuiling at the box.
I jumped in for the second half of the race, I was sure that sooner or later the opponents would have had to stop and I was waiting for that moment for my strategy to repay me of my patience: there was a mandatory pit stop after all! ehehe
To my bewildered surprise, tho, the AI did not give the slightiest f*** about this mandatory pit stop. I ended last, with 20+ secs of delay from the first guy. Had to restart the race and wasted 15 minutes! What happened? Maybe the Ai doesn't have this "Mandatory Pit Stop"?

They do in all my races. Did you see the pit icon by their names in the list? During the race?

The only other thing I can think is that your setting changed requiring the pitstop. Maybe you reset something when activating the race and it didn't really require one.
I've had many settings mysteriously change.

Know that they fuel first, then change tires, leading to long stops. Ai May not change tires.

My ai pit every time. Its also very tough NOT to loose time to them on pit enter and exit. They are very fast getting in and out. Could account for your 20secs.
But watch for their pit icon during the race. You'll see them do it.
Also beware your team mate pitting at the same time in your box. I had no idea I even had one until I came in right behind a car and the chief waived me around. That sucked. Didn't know they did that.
Now, during qualify, I look to see who my team mate is, make a note.

I checked this morning and no, they do not pit. I retried the race, this time without stopping like them, and everything went fine. Apparently, it's just the ruels section in Ginetta GT5 Championship that is wrong. There is no mandatory pit stop in that championship.

Ah. I havnt done any championships, just regular races I create or an online race. I see what you are saying now. You didn't have a choice to set up the pit stop. 10-4

Did you do a full distance? Wonder if they pit when running full length race?

Yes, I went for the full-lenght especially because I liked tre idea of the pit stop strategy being involved in a longer race. When i tried a second time (this time ignoring the mandatory pit stop rule), I went for the shorter race just to be sure not to waste too much time in case I got disqualified, but none, neither me nor them, pit stopped, so I guess it's just the rule session that's wrong.

Are you sure it says "Mandatory Pitstop"? I just looked at the rules of the GT5 career and it says the pits are open, but it doesn't say anything about a mandatory stop:

I´ve got the same problem in career ginetta gt5. The rules say a pit stop is mandatory, but the AI gives a damn about it.
I just hope it´s only a bug in this class

I just ran these not that long ago and for me the rules screen is the same as Mahjik's screen. The AI never pitted and neither did I.

I did see at least one series where the rules stated that you get a bonus point for qualifying on pole but you really don't(I don't remember which one, one of the tier 2 events I think -- maybe even the GT5s) so there can be errors in the rules. But I haven't seen a mandatory pit error, unless it's only an issue with some translations?

Edit: From the last post, it sounds like it's a translation thing. I cant find a way for goggle to show me any results about it except this thread though.

If you look at my screenshot above, it's in English but there is no mention of mandatory pitstop. It's possible, the translation is not accurate.

It´s the center textblock starting with "Die Boxengasse ist..."
2nd line sais "Im Rennen gibt es einen obligatorischen Boxenstopp..."

This and the following sentence are useless as they don´t come into play

Yeah that's clearly a mistake, maybe in an early version they had planned mandatory stops and then changed their mind but the German rules screen didn't get changed. It's obviously not simply a mistranslation, they just have the wrong rule entirely. Obviously this makes a much bigger difference than the one I had where it just didn't give a bonus point.

It should give you messages during the race about a mandatory stop too if there is one. If it doesn't tell you to pit during the race then it's probably just a really bad oversight and you can ignore it. If you do have to pit and the bots don't it would ruin such short races. Unfortunately they are not updating the game anymore so it isn't likely to ever get fixed.

Ah.....finally I got the answer. I'm running the Chinese language version and got the same problem with the GT5 season. I just wondering why the hell AI doesn't have to pit but the rule said you MUST PIT in the race or you can't join the final stage if you don't PIT.
