Thrustmaster TGT help
Hi. I got this wheel because I wanted to see how that special thing it does for GT Sport feels. It feels kinda nice. You feel vibrations from the road on the wheel and even the pedal set...
Problem is, the driving aspect is kinda sluggish in that game.

I'm no pro by any means but as soon as I kinda got it to run on PC2 on PC I was sorta blown away on how much better the driving felt on this game.

Problem is, I'm not sure if I'm using the correct settings as this wheel is not natively supported by PC2.
Currently the wheel is set as the T300 RS and I'm still fumbling around and trying some recommended ffb settings for the T300 RS.
Is this ok or should I choose a different Thrustmaster Wheel from the ones available in the game or go with something completly different ?

On the matter of ffb any suggestions for this wheel ?

I just can't shake the feeling, the driving could feel even better with the correct settings.

I hope someone can help out here.

iHanszo out.

The good, or bad depending on how you look at it, is that there is no such thing as "correct FFB settings". FFB is subjective. What one person likes, another will not, so just experiment with various settings to find what 'you' like.

Also check the official forum for more FFB discussions:

The thing with "correct" ffb setting makes perfect sense. I have to find my own taste.

The problem is that dreaded ffb clipping I keep reading about. Yet I don't quite get how I would notice it. Does the wheel just start doing nonsense ? What has to happen in game for the clipping to happen ?

I will check out the thread you posted. Maybe all the anwers I need can be found there.

Thanks. :)

Clipping usually manifest itself in the form that the forces are so strong that some of the more subtle forces are drowned out. Some people prefer overly strong forces and don't mind clipping, some want to notice those subtle forces more and avoid clipping.

FWIW, SMS did some blind testing during PC1 with the WMD community around FFB. The majority preferred some light clipping of the FFB. In short, clipping is not as bad as some people make it out to be so don't be too concerned with it.

You can see the FFB meter in the Telemetry screen when driving.

Oh. I will check out the meter in telemetry.

So it's not like the clipping can damage the wheel on the long run ?

I read a comparison with audio speakers that are pushed too hard and start distorting. That would damage the speakers for sure over prolonged use.

I guess that comparison had to be explained a little better if clipping cannot damage my wheel.

PC2 (or any sim) can't send any force to your wheel that the wheel drivers won't allow. With the speaker analogy, I can overpower speakers as there is nothing between my amp and the speaker. With PC gaming hardware, there is a layer between the sim and the hardware which is the device driver from the manufacturer. That drive driver limits what can be sent to the hardware.

This is the clipping. (Making up some numbers just for illustration purposes), if you try to send say a force of 1000, the device driver will cut what it can't send and send maximum strength that it supports which is maybe 500.

This is some very helpful information. I'm starting to understand the concept now.

So I can just go ahead messing around. There is always a default if things get out of hand.

Thanks very much. :)
