Real cars, without "all assists" on really are harder to handle than they look like on TV at the hands of pros that live off of racing.
Also, tracks have much more grip at 12:00 than ar 6:00pm or later because of track temperature, also some tracks really have more or less grip than others.
If you are talking about FFB, Steam screw FFB sometimes, but it can also be adjusted in game.
If you want your complaint to be taken serious then you have to provide decent info about it. What kind of controls do you use, what are your realism settings, what car, what track, what track condition, did you setup the car, etc...
P.S,
This is the review you wrote yourself in 2017 about this game"
So what changed?
This is all default from install to launching the game,
Select Private Testing and we are greeted with this car this track at this time.
Mclaren 720s
Long Beach Street Circuit
Weather Clear - 16:00
Regarding my change of opinion from the review i made at release.
Well i was really playing Pcars1 alot at the time, perhaps i was just used to the feel or new at that time the settings and adjustments needed to make the game feel ok.
Assetto Corsa for example, load any car on any track and it may not feel super tight and likely require some fine tuning but... nothing feels as awful out of the gate to what i experienced running Pcars2 with everything at default. (and i just tried this, although not with every car)
I was tired at the time, and normally would have gone into more detail, guess i was just surprised and honestly kind of shocked that SMS didnt put more care into what new players might experience at first go.
* In the Gameplay options, make sure "Assists" are set to "Authentic".
* Select Time Trial mode
* Select your car/track (720s and Long Beach)
Try that and see if that changes anything.
Oh, and if you're gonna use the McLaren, make sure TC and ABS are enabled. Like in real life...
Check the comparison of me driving these cars without any assists and manual gear:
Project Cars 2 - California Highway Stage 3 - Ferrari Enzo - 1:37.234

Project Cars 2 - California Highway Stage 3 - Lamborghini Diablo - 1:39.014

Project Cars 2 - California Highway Stage 3 - McLaren F1 - 1:42.283

McLaren is the hardest of the 3 and if compared to a formula car:
Project Cars 2 - California Highway Stage 3 - Formula X - 1:19.240

That is really no comparison. McLaren for me is the hardest of these.
Drove 2-3 laps in each default setup:
OEM no aids(likely what I had used before): Wow this thing is all over the place. How can you finish a lap?
Stable with Authentic aids: Okay, this is a little tricky but not too bad once the tires warm up. Only major difficulty was getting slow enough to get into the corners. Aids on is awkward for me since I'm not used to it(mostly ABS confuses me, T/C I just need to remember to hammer down more) but it helped get a feel for how I needed to drive.
Stable no aids: Yeah this works. Be a little careful in the slow stuff. Now that I've learned the track/car combo I got a little faster.
Loose no aids: Not too bad. First lap a little trickier than Stable but fine on the second. Took another second off my time. Could drive reasonably confident now.
OEM no aids again: Okay this is still pretty tricky. Close to being able to handle it, but still didn't get a legit lap out of the 3 I tried. One thing I noticed is OEM uses medium instead of soft tires. They start green but significantly less grip even after warming more. They also default to significantly higher pressure which is usually a bad thing in this game.
I think all cars default to loose. Most of the time I prefer stable but not always, street cars I usually drive OEM at least when first driving them. I think OEM usually has pressures too high.
Definitely not the easiest car I've driven. Gets hairy changing gears while turning even a little, even with T/C on. Still the main problem is just getting it whoa'd up at the end of the straights which is partly just adjusting my reference points. A lot easier than my experience with the street Corvette, but this track was a lot warmer than what I remember driving that on.
Correct, and still using a controller.
I had purchased a wheel and pedals but wasn’t super impressed with the 600$ investment so returned it soon after.
it helps a lot to set up your controller´s sensitivity and deadzones.
this video helped me a lot

* Controller settings
* Cold tires in Free Practice
Most sims don't simulate cold tires which catches people off guard with PC2. This was why I suggested testing using Time Trial as a test since the car will start with warm tires.
Or do at least three laps to get the tyres warmed up, I've noticed the Clio cup cars and some of the road cars, are a nightmare to drive on cold tyres for me, but the tyres soon heat up once I've done a couple of laps, making the vehicles fun to drive.
Using a wheel and pedal set btw.
