VR requirements and overall experience

I've recently got the game and I'm playing it with a G29 on my living room TV. I'm in love with it and I was wondering if it was worth to make an upgrade to the VR experience. I only have a problem, I would need at least to get a decent GPU. I currently play on my Dell XPS 15 (i7-8570H, GTX 1050ti, 16GB ram) so I was wondering if by getting an eGPU with a 1080 I would be able to play VR at a decent picture quality.

On a side note I wanted also to ask whoever plays VR in here if the investment was worth it.

The investment is worth it if you have the money available. It'll blow your mind. I've been using VR for sims for a few months now and it still blows my mind every single time. It's the different between watching a game, and being inside a car.

VR and racing sims go hand and hand, I've been playing Codemaster F1 games for years but since getting PC2 and playing in VR for 2 weeks now I can't see myself going back to a flat screen for racing games.
