AI is INSANELY faster than me in rain conditions
I'm currently racing round 5/7 of the FC World championship and I'm finding trubles with AI laptimes.
Practice was in dry conditions and I set the fastest time with a 1:23:150. AI was set at 110 skill level and the driver in second place did a 1:23:400. Then, qualyfing was in light rain conditions and while I couldn't set a lap faster than 1:30:100, AI was setting laptimes arround the 1:25s. I managed to chase one AI driver to see where I was loosing so much time and, altough I was as fast as him in turns, he was was insanely faster than me in the straights, like if he was driving in dry conditions.

Is this a bug or what am I doing wrong?

The AI varies so much from class to class....some types of racing, they are easy to beat in the wet....AI is usually much slower in the race......I’ve started last and won the race....not tried F.C.....what track.?

I'm sorry I didn't mention the track, it is at SUGO

AI and players are on 2 physics systems.

The AI is better off in a derby gamemode too.

I think they should drop AI and focus on the player's online experience and the game's health.

Its 2018... solo practice and ranked online events/seasons/championships is all it needs.
Dedicated ranked servers would be a huge PLUS too.

This one last sentence makes no sense.....2018 ? and who are you to judge in what age we live to be a hotlapper or a multiplayer player ? People mainly play pcars 2 for the singleplayer experience, why they implemented this career mode with different path to choose from. Not everyone wants to play with wreckers in mp and stupid people because humanity will always win in that regard, did you ever heard the proverb ; the error is human ? In this age of tecno, AI is playing a big part in everything. In 2018, precisely, they should come out with a better AI behavior than before. For my part, i only play pcars2 for the variety of leagues and tracks it offers (and for a casual racing game that i can play on my couch with a controller - tried it with my DD and didn't enjoy the ffb - and the solo experience, if i want to hotlap or play mp, i'll go whether on Iracing or AC with my full racing setup with vr, so i just hope they give that mp a better consistency, not bad, but could be better. Pcars 2 IS a casual racing game that can play all aspect of the racing genre so saying that they should ditch the sp to concentrate on other aspects that you want is purely an opinion that has no meaning whatsoever, if they do so, they'll just become a form of copycat of other racing titles. Not my original language but i guess you got the point.

Am I right in thinking the AI just ignore the puddles? If so that makes wet races a little pointless.

Yeah puddles don't seem to affect AI cars

Seriously Puddles still dont effect AI? 'IF' this is true then they have no fix for it and dont expect one in Pcars2, that's been a bug since release and I can't find any SMS talking abut fixing it.

The AI is all over the place depending on cars and tracks. I can drive one track with one type of car with the AI skill at 100 and I will take the pole every time with a 5 second gap between me and 2nd place, but then if I simply change the entire grid to a different car, I have to lower the AI skill to 60 just to stay somewhere in the back third of the pack.

I just finished the Ginetta GT5 championship in Career and Silverstone had rain in which the water on track was forming and I was very impressed....I was like wow, that was crazy! I didn't see the AI act like they could go through faster without problems. In fact, I gained a little bit on them. Could this be an issue maybe when using rain in practice mode or something? (I haven't tried it yet)

Anyways, we have a lot of rain where I live and have driven while hydroplaning and I reacted similar while driving in rain during the race @ Silverstone (butt cheeks clenched and kept the wheels straight as possible lol) while also avoiding the larger puddles as best I could.

I have far more respect for what these guys accomplished with PC2 now. I haven't played a "career mode" in a long long time, but I'm doing this one.:carstrophy:

* I also saved the replay and will record it for "proof" purposes

yes this has been my experience too. While the AI doesnt seem to be affected by puddles they are a lot slower in the wet and I often gain time on them

Try to win against the AI in the low grip invitational events. They do laps within top 10 leaderboards on all tracks and that's not even at 100 Difficulty.

You guys realize there was a 2gb patch that changed everything discussed in this thread right? You guys seem perplexed you are getting different results when its obvious why.
