Project CARS 2

Statistiche:
What is Wrong With the Clutch? No Power Shifts?
I'm an aggresive shifter, and I like to power shift as well. No matter what settings I use, I am unable to power shift, the car simply does not go into gear until I let off the gas for a second and get back on it.

A second is way too long for a shift!

Even when I'm not power shifting, I need to shift like a granny, otherwise the clutch won't engage and I'll be stuck spinning the engine with no gains.

I hope this is a bug, if it's working as intended, it's complete crap. Has anyone else experienced this?

I'm just usng a sequential shifter but I think I know what you're talking about. On road cars (Toyota GT-86 for example) it feels like the game makes me wait for the animation of the driver's hands to finish their movements before actually putting the car into the next gear.
I have the same problem with my g27. Project cars 2 has many flaws but this is by far the most annoying one, I cannot drive old cars, I can't drive small road cars. The strange thing is: not many people complain about this. Maybe it's a bug after all?

I think not many people actually drive with a clutch.

The percentage of people with a sheel is small.

The percentage of people with a wheel, clutch pedal and shifter is smaller.

The percentage of people with a wheel, clutch pedal, shifter, AND actively use all three... it's probably a pretty tiny segment of people.

It must be a bug, it HAS to be a bug.... And I hope to God they fix it.

For now, I turned on automatic clutch. It still allows me to use the clutch pedal, but prevents the clutch from not engaging when I release it. Problem is, when I actually do make a mistake with the clutch, it doesn't register in the game.
Erm, what are you driving?

I had shifting issues with the Sierra Cosworth and one of the 70's classic cars, though it was mostly when being lazy downshifting. If I heel and toe it's fine but I was sunday driving taking in the sights. There is a "simulated" delay I think on some of the older cars but anything modern has been really snappy for me.

You really should disable automatic clutch mind you.
I would love to disable automatic clutch, if the clutch actually worked. As for which cars are having problems, all of them, modern and classic.
Name a few and I'll test them when I get up. The clutch works for me, I've even managed to shift...something I forget...without it while keeping my right foot floored.
Yesterday I drove the Ferrari F40 in the GTO class. Can you test that one?

Besides, I watched a Race from a youtuber with manual clutch, in his videos shift times seem much shorter than what we are forced to, even in old cars.
Right so the F40...

You absolutely need to lift the throttle for up shifts. If I drive it in that way, I have no problems, you also don't need to use the clutch when doing so.

For downshifts, it has the same behaviour I noticed in the Sierra. When heavy braking for a corner, if you do not blip the throttle it will not engage properly, so it really requires you to heel and toe when racing.
I'm glad you can confirm this.

So, are the developers going to read this or do we have to contact them?!

clutch is not finished.

Would you mind going into detail a bit?
You mean they are still working on it? I hope they get it right.

maybe they will never changed clutch :), but it sure it's not finished.
Maybe for Project cars 3 :)

While I cannot talk specifcally about each gearbox for each car, I don't really see this behaviour as wrong. Not all gearbox and clutch systems are equal and I don't see that you should be able to slam it in to gear with your foot flat on the floor in certain types.

Your daily driver is much different to a race car designed to withstand high torque over sustained periods.
As long as my shifter can't simulate the weight of the gearstick of a real ferrari, as long as my foot can't feel the friction zone in the clutch, I can live without that part of "realism" as well. IF this behavior is realistic anyways. The way it is now, you cannot feel anything. you have to guess if the gear is in or not. Or just wait 2 seconds until you can be sure. But thats not what a real racedriver does either, is it?
I hope I described the problem good enough, I'm not a native speaker.
I understand what you are saying, my point is if you change gear properly according to the transmission type, there is not a delay. It's not about whether you can feel the clunk of your stick or the bite point of the clutch, you simply must lift off the throttle when changing up gears and blip it to rev match for down shifts.

From a game perspective, keeping your foot pinned to the floor is an exploit many have used and got away with in certain sims for years. Having a more accurate model for transmission should not be criticised simply because you have to adapt.
