Project CARS 2

Frame Rate Drop! Any solutions?
I'm just gonna get straight to the point. I love this game a lot, better than the first one. The only problem that I have is performance. I lag in day time, no rain. I get around 60-40 fps with only 12 cars. I never tried more cars than that (it would be bad). I checked the forums and a lot of people with high end rigs are having issues. I don't have a high end rig, but i should play at least on medium settings.

My PC Setup:
Windows 10
GTX 1070 SC
i5-3570k @3.4 Ghz
8gb DDR4 Ram
500 GB Hard Drive

Like I said, it's no high end, but i can't run medium settings without frame drop. I really like this game, but its unplayable for me. I might just wait for a patch. It must be a bug, hopefully.

16gb ram and upgrade your CPU
What AA settings do you use? Downsampling on medium or high will kill fps.
Also OC your CPU to 4.0 GHz
What gpu driver are you running ? Your ram is fine... Your CPU is ok no need to overclock it..you should be getting playable framerates as is.. Do you have the game installed on a SSD? IF NOT...that could be the problem. The game reads and writes data very fast... On a platter drive this could cause hitching... Which is often mistaken for framerate lag.

I´m not so sure about the processor, old gen i5 might be a bit on the low side as well. Definitely try moving the game on SSD tho if you haven´t already
I'm playing on the hard drive, not a ssd. I also have the newest drivers installed. I might get a new cpu soon, or just overclocked it a bit to 4.0 ghz. Thanks for all the help, it means a lot. I don't know much about PC. I need to do some research lol.

This turned quickly in a senseless discussion about "your hardware, bro" ...

I don't know exactly, what you describe as 'framerate drop'.

What I myself have experienced with pCars2 is a framerate 'micro-stutter' - the game, half-way through a race, freezes on me for about half-a-second to a second during a race - as if the multi-threading scheduler had to wait for a thread to finish, before updating the next drawcall.

This could be either the physics simulation, a force-feedback issue, even a VRAM flushing issue, or any other thing (driver or game engine related).

I still don't know, if this is the thing YOU are experiencing, too.

Do not suggest someone plug in an overclock. It does not work that way, and all conditions are different.

Do you want to take credit for damaging, or destroying someone else's hardware, simply due to leading a poor example?

Do not follow someone's advice regarding PC frequencies, especially if you yourself do not grasp the concept. It will only lead to issues on your end. That is not a solution.

I hardly get stutters in this game. I mostly get frame drop. I'm not gonna take a chance and overclock my cpu. I'm pretty sure i'm not the only person having issues. The game just came out so I'm pretty sure its a bug or something. People in other forums with better pc's are having issues too. I'll just wait for an update. I watched a video from Digital Foundry and saw that the PS4 Pro can get a solid 60 fps with max cars in stormy conditions. I know for a fact that my hardware is better than the ps4 pro. Could it be poor optimization for pc? i don't know.
I play in VR (rift) with a ryzen 5 1600 @ 3.8ghz 16gb, ddr4 2666 ram and a gtx 1080 and don't get any stuttering and it's installed on a plain old sata hard disk, lol :)

Tbh, all this move it to your ssd talk gets on my nerves if I'm honest.
You should not need to install games onto a solid state drive!

game crashes on me on every nvidia driver :(
all other games ran fine... ugh, weird situation with NVidia & SMS - I don't know who can provide the answers
Upgrade CPU to RYZEN 1600 or higher, OR an i7 4790k or after... i5's are a thing of the past now that multithreading is being used now with games.... This will resolve any frame drops, ALSO make sure you have an SSD, HDD's are obsolete now for gaming......will also improve your gaming to a smooth consistant frame rate. Make sue your Graphics Card has AT LEAST 6gb VRAM AT LEAST!!!!!!. New games are Vram HOGS., And a minimum of 8gb Ram....

I've got a 3570K at 4.1Ghz-it runs this game absolutely fine. SSD is a shout though. It's worth doing for this game.
This may sound dumb, but how big a difference can a ssd actually do?
For some reason the game has just dropped to around 30 FPS . Have not altered any settings (that i can recall) and was running at 60 plus. All other Sims running ok.
My Rig
Windows 10
i7-4790
mem 8gb
GTX750 Ti
Thought i saw a post fro someone with same issue........any suggestions please?
