Frame Rate Drop! Any solutions?
I'm just gonna get straight to the point. I love this game a lot, better than the first one. The only problem that I have is performance. I lag in day time, no rain. I get around 60-40 fps with only 12 cars. I never tried more cars than that (it would be bad). I checked the forums and a lot of people with high end rigs are having issues. I don't have a high end rig, but i should play at least on medium settings.

My PC Setup:
Windows 10
GTX 1070 SC
i5-3570k @3.4 Ghz
8gb DDR4 Ram
500 GB Hard Drive

Like I said, it's no high end, but i can't run medium settings without frame drop. I really like this game, but its unplayable for me. I might just wait for a patch. It must be a bug, hopefully.

Thought i saw a post fro someone with same issue........any suggestions please?
Was your game running fine before it started to have issues? Could you get good frame rate with a lot of cars also before the issue?

Running a i5, 7600K, 16 GB of Ram, with a 1060 OC 6 GB. in VR with all setting set on low im pulling steady 45 frames per sec. this is the most demanding game I ever played.
But other then that is the best Racing sim I ever played.

Maybe when in steam at the game properties for Project Cars 2 you can add the line:

-fpscap 60

as a game 'start option'.

Update ...
I had to go into Steam VR / settings / performance /. Then I had to un-click the "Allow interleaved reprojection". Make sure the "Allow asynchronous reprojection" is clicked on.
Now im holded 90-75 FPS, on mid - low settings.

I run a GTX 970 with an i7 2600k OC to 4.6ghz and only 8gb ram ddr3 @1600mhz i can manage High on 1440p at 45-60+ fps.

Micro stutter is down to the game / net code not his hardware.

Although i am suprised he has a K series intel cpu and has not overclocked it in the slightest, such wasted opportunity, if you can overclock (permitting your cpu cooler is decent) i would highly suggest it as you wont need to upgrade CPU as soon, you should be able to hit 4.2ghz easily.

Another trick i do if it is buggy is just clean install my drivers and right click on game go to properties and click Verify Game Cache and let it do its thing.

if you have played the game in non vr mode at any point you may have encountered a config bug. It happened to me, and it seemed to be a common bug on the reddit forums. Basically if you run the game in non vr mode then go back to vr mode your performance tanks bad. It was easy to fix, just go to my documents > Project CARS 2 > then delete graphicsconfigdx11 and graphicsconfigoculusdx11, then relaunch the game and let it create a new config file. It might be called openvrcongig if you dont use the rift im not sure. I spent three days trying to figure out why my frame rate was so low and then saw the thread on reddit and this cured it. OH and turn off the grass, big performance hit for absolutely nothing you will notice at speed, and you will also get better frames using oculus degug tool or steam vr to supper sample vs using in game option., hope it helps...

Thanks for this information......... I first started the game in desktop mode to assign my steering wheel and pedals and gearshifter and handbrake, not realising it would mess with my graphics cfg file. Untill now SteamVR was reporting dropped frames regardless of the SteamVR SS settings.... being on 0.6 or 5 made no difference, there was always dropped frames. After doing your fix I am now running SteamVR SS @ 5 and in-game SS @ 2 (both at MAX) and seeing no dropped frames, and a solid 90 fps..... grass low, shadows low, car and track at ultra, texture filtering off....... using an I-7 7700K and 1080TI, 16 GB 3200 MHz RAM.
