Impossible to start with steam vr

Hello

Even thought I check start with steam vr.

it always starts with oculus sdk.

steam vr never works with oculus.

I need to start with steam vr to use motion compensation.

can anyone handle this?

i had same situation with pCars 1

i have had same issue. i logged ticket with STEAM who say not there prob basically as VR works on other games. Went to Bandai Namco and they said my PC specs were not enough to support it... even though it meets recommended specs on their website and has been working up until 2 weeks ago,,,, will keep trying a post if i get any real result

found a fix ( looked it up cause im looking at getting VR )
"I got it to work , had to open oculus home then start game through steam as normal
I have my oculus home set so that it’s not running in the background , only normally use the oculus home if I’m playing games on oculus it use to work fine this way but for some reason I now need it open for the picture to be displayed in the hmd "

Hey guy's !
Since a copple of days , Dirt rally , Pcars 1 and 2 won't launch in steam vr .I have to close the game window which still stays to the bandaï home screen to stop the process (nothing happens and in the steam vr window it was written that steam vr is unavailable in red) , Because I use steam vr to use the open vr feature to use the motion cancelation software on my sim rig with my oculus headset .Just Assetto Corsa still continues working fine !
Something changed I suppose in the last steam vr release because before all was working perfectly.
If someone has some idea , link ? I suppose not to be the only one having this problem
Edit : I got again everything which works well . To use the motion cancelation feature into open vr i need revive software .I updated the software a few days ago but I forgotten to patch again all my steam games . Now it works perfectly as before. Problem solved

I find the solution, you have to close the service of oculus using the debug tool. Then run the game in steam vr mode and works fine

A bit late to the party but this may help someone, i had the same problem when trying to run the game with an oculus quest,ive got terrible performance when using the oculus app and i couldn't start it with steamvr, the solution? download OVR Advanced Settings from steam (free) go to settings, force steamvr, done!
